EXCLUSIVE: Three-time Oscar nominee and original John Rambo actor, Sylvester Stallone, has come aboard Lionsgate, Millenium Media and AGBO prequel John Rambo as an executive producer.
This is the first time that Stallone has ever produced a Rambo movie, the latest installment taking the 44-year-old franchise to six titles. Stallone isn’t starring in the movie since it takes place in the events preceding 1982’s First Blood. Noah Centineo takes over as Rambo. The pic, directed by Sisu‘s Jalmari Helander, is currently filming in Bangkok, Thailand.
Stallone was a writer on the previous five Rambo movies which have grossed over $819M at the global box office. He also directed the 2008 installment, Rambo.

His participation is the final, critical piece to John Rambo, and we’re thrilled to have his involvement.”
Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani wrote the John Rambo screenplay. The producers are Kevin King Templeton and Les Weldon, Jonathan Yunger for Millennium Media, and Angela Russo-Otstot and Michael Disco for AGBO. The executive producers include Anthony & Joe Russo, Trevor Short, and Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk for Bonfire Legend, alongside Sylvester Stallone. The film is produced by Lionsgate, Millennium Media, Templeton Media, and AGBO, and will be distributed by Lionsgate.
John Rambo also stars Yao (Sinners), Jason Tobin (A Thousand Blows), Quincy Isaiah (Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty), Jefferson White (Yellowstone), and Tayme Thapthimthong (The White Lotus).
Last November, Lionsgate made a deal with Millennium to acquire rights to develop and produce all derivative works, including future film and TV productions, of The Expendables franchise, as well as worldwide distribution rights to John Rambo, the upcoming sixth installment of the Rambo film series.
