Survivor’s Colby Donaldson Admits He Almost Backed Out of Season 50
Cirie Fields’ losses were her children’s gains.
As the Survivor legend reflected on her five seasons on the CBS competition series, she detailed how her experiences on the show influenced the way she parented her sons John, 36, Jamil, 31, and Jared, 27.
“My children grew up watching me on Survivor,” Cirie told E! News in an exclusive interview at the New York premiere of season 50 on Feb. 24. “I wanted them to see the good and the bad. I wanted them to see wins and losses and I wanted them to know that, although you may not win, it's not really all about the ending. It's about the journey.”
The 55-year-old, who stars alongside Mike White, Q Burdette and Savannah Louie this season, added, “They've been able to witness my journey. And if you ask them, they're like, ‘Oh, my mom won in so many ways. You guys just don't understand.’ Because they were able to ride with me and witness.”
And while Cirie—who previously appeared on Panama (season 12), Micronesia (season 16), Heroes vs. Villains (season 20) and Game Changers (season 34)—allowed her kids to learn from her time on the show, she admitted that she’s learned just as much.
“Being a part of the Survivor franchise has shown me depths that I didn't know existed inside this caterpillar that has now turned into a butterfly,” she explained. "It forces you to see your flaws. It forces you to push beyond realms you even knew existed within you. And I always get something new.”

Now that the Traitors winner has returned from filming Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans—which premiered Feb. 25, with new episodes airing Wednesdays on CBS—she isn’t limiting herself on what the future holds.
“There's so many things on my bucket list that I still have to do,” she shared. “I want to skydive, I want to [climb] Mount Kilimanjaro, you name it. Nothing's out of my reach now, and that's what Survivor taught me.”

Cirie concluded, “The things that I thought were out of my reach and that I was not capable of doing, that list, I burned that 20 years ago because now I know that anything is possible.”
Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans airs Wednesdays on CBS. Of course, Cirie isn’t the only Survivor legend who returned for season 50. Read on to see who else is part of the milestone season’s cast.
