The trailer for James Gunn’s Superman has been met with a tidal wave of positive feedback, with fans praising everything from the film’s overall aesthetic to the brief glimpses of other Justice League heroes. However, it’s the humorous scene between the Man of Steel and his loyal companion, Krypto the Superdog, that has truly captured fans’ hearts, sparking widespread discussions and a surge of fan art.
The trailer scene between Superman and Krypto shows a bloodied and bruised Man of Steel crash-landing face-first into an Arctic snowcap, before letting out a sharp whistle. Moments later, a plume of snow reveals his ever-loyal companion, Krypto, bounding to the rescue. Barely able to move, Superman lifts his cape and mutters for Krypto to "take [him] home."
Without hesitation, the super-pet grabs the cape with his teeth and starts dragging the completely drained Man of Steel. This amusingly pitiful moment, where the world's mightiest hero gets towed by his dog, has been reimagined with an epic Peanuts-inspired twist by Indonesian pop illustrator Gilang A. Jagini.
James Gunn’s Superman & Krypto Scene Inspires Wholesome Fanart
Artist Gilang A. Jagini Gives Superman & Krypto a Peanuts-Inspired Reimagining
Jagini reimagines the James Gunn-directed scene in the unmistakable art style of Charles M. Schulz, the creator of Peanuts—the iconic comic strip featuring beloved characters like Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and Woodstock. Schulz's art style is known for its simplicity, charm, and expressiveness, with minimal linework, consistent details, and characters with oversized heads. Jagini expertly adapts this style to Superman and Krypto, transforming Clark into a Peanuts-style character while retaining his signature Superman curl and the Gunn Universe-specific suit. Meanwhile, Krypto adopts a Snoopy-like build, but with scruffy white fur.
What truly sets Jagini's work apart is how he not only recreates the trailer scene but also captures the laid-back, human-like vibe of Snoopy and the humor inherent to Peanuts comics. In the trailer, Krypto is all energy, enthusiastically grabbing Superman’s cape and bounding through the snow to pull him to safety. Jagini, however, depicts Krypto walking upright, much like Snoopy often does, casually dragging Superman behind him in a relaxed, almost indifferent manner. This nonchalant portrayal perfectly channels Snoopy’s trademark “couldn’t care less” attitude, adding a layer of humor that’s both clever and nostalgic.

But Wait, There’s More! Krypto & Superman Fanart Is Taking the Internet By Storm
Artist Karlos Kuan Recreates Scene From James Gunn’s Superman Movie
However, Jagini wasn’t the only artist inspired by what is already quickly becoming an iconic scene from Gunn’s movie. Artist Karlos Kuan also drew inspiration from the scene and added a touch of Charles M. Schulz’s art style to his own creation, depicting the same moment with the notable difference of aligning the energy and movement in his art more directly with the movie. In Kuan’s version, Krypto is shown bounding off with Superman’s cape firmly clamped in his teeth, energetically dragging the Man of Steel along.
It’s truly fantastic to see how a simple trailer has sparked so much creativity among fans, and there’s no doubt that even more Superman and Krypto fan art will emerge in the near future.
