If you've played Super Mario Sunshine, odds are you have an opinion on it. Whether you played it at launch or in the modern era, gamers tend to have strong opinions on Sunshine, given its polarizing framework and the addition of the FLUDD platforming mechanics.
If you've never played it, you can try it out now on the Nintendo Classics GameCube line, through the Switch 2. It's worth experiencing even if you drop it after the first few levels, as it's a pretty important part of Mario's history, especially when it comes to the 3D phase.
You can also pick up another freebie, thanks to an official Nintendo announcement on X.
Released in 2002 on the Nintendo GameCube, Super Mario Sunshine has returned to the Nintendo Classics service on the Switch 2, so the publisher is celebrating accordingly. Although the game was previously available by way of a Switch 1 limited re-release (Super Mario 3D All-Stars), you can now play it in its native form through the GameCube app.
To kick off the launch, Nintendo dropped Super Mario Sunshine on Nintendo Music, which you can pick up now. Koji Kondo and Shinobu Tanaka composed the soundtrack. Kondo has been with Nintendo since the mid-'80s, and has worked on games like Punch Out and Star Fox 64, among many Mario and Zelda games.

No matter how you feel about Super Mario Sunshine, odds are you'll enjoy at least a few songs on the soundtrack. It's a masterful mix of completely new music that feels fresh in the Mario universe, along with classic 8-bit Mario motifs, like in the song "Delfino Airstrip."
Give the Super Mario Sunshine soundtrack a listen, even if it's just a once-over. You won't regret it, even if you don't play the game and bounced off of it.
