The sci-fi thriller Subservience explores the chaotic dangers of artificial intelligence and androids, and it counts on the talents of a well-known cast. Sci-fi, horror, and thriller have found a theme in common in recent years thanks to the rise of AI in different areas – and, of course, filmmakers have seized this topic to tell terrifying stories about the pros and cons of AI. Among them is Subservience, directed by S. K. Dale and written by Will Honley, which takes the audience to a near future where technology has advanced to the point of developing lifelike androids powered by AI.

Subservience focuses on Nick’s family after his wife, Maggie, is hospitalized due to an unspecified (but threatening) heart condition. Unable to manage the household on his own, Nick buys an AI android, which they refer to as “sim”, to help him around the house and with his kids while Maggie is in the hospital. His daughter decides to call the sim “Alice”, and they quickly bond. However, Alice’s program is too advanced, so much so that it develops an unhealthy attachment to Nick and his daughter. The cast of Subservience has some well-known faces, along with some new talents.
