Stop what you're doing! Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones just crashed to £149 – cheaper than they've ever been

I don't know if I'll ever stop praising the Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones. It's been over five years (an age in wireless audio technology!) yet even two-generations later they're still frankly some of the best headphones most people can buy for the money, which is why this all-new low price is so important.

What's the deal? They've just dropped to £149 in the UK, only at EE (was £199) – a huge saving of £50 or £19.15 cheaper than they've ever been, across any sales event, ever!

The Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones already feature in our guide to the best headphones and have done for years now, but honestly, every time they receive an extra discount they become a more attractive purchase – and the design is nothing short of iconic, these days.

Sony absolutely knocked it out of the park with these noise-cancelling over-ears and frankly, a lot of the industry is still trying to catch up. In 2025 they're a modern classic – and they can be yours for just £149.

Early Black Friday deal: Sony WH-1000XM4 drop to their cheapest price ever

Retailers surprised us all last week by launching Black Friday deals earlier than we've ever seen before in 2025, with many savings expanding even more recently to add dozens of new additions – and as TechRadar's Audio Editor, this new EE deal is top of the audio pile, for me.

There are newer Sony headphone models, of course, but you have to pay a lot more for a clear step up in all areas for the Sony WH-1000XM6. On a budget? You'll love the XM4. And you don't need to take my word for it; simply go out of a morning, if you are able – look at all the commuters still wearing them.

Other, newer cans can beat these Sonys in individual areas, such as newer proprietary spatial audio features or noise nixing power – but as an overall budget-friendly package that's also lightweight, comfortable and folds up for easy transportation, I really think nothing's beating these headphones for this money.

To wear these headphones is to go slightly retro, it's true, but also to signal that you know good headphones – because make no mistake, that is what they are. We said in our original WH-1000XM4 review that these over-ears were probably the best headphones ever made, and today they still leave many rivals much further up the food chain for dust. My advice? If you've been sitting on the fence (and you need new headphones), now's the time.
