Sting has teased an upcoming collaboration with hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg as he took to BBC Radio 2 in The Park stage in Preston, Lancashire, on Saturday.

Before his headline performance at Moor Park, he bluntly admitted his ultimate ambition as a singer and musician was to create music that people 'just keep performing forever'.

He then revealed he has a new project with the rapper, 52, as the pair have been working on a remixed version of Message In The Bottle, which is due to be released in November.

Sting explained: 'Me and Snoop made a recording of Message In A Bottle, which he's called something else. I played the guitar and I sang on it, but Snoop also sings on this, which is quite a revelation to me.

'He's a very nice man,' he added fondly.

The music legend went on to add: 'I like playing hits, I really do, but you know, it's my job to sing a song I might have written 40 years ago with the same passion, the same curiosity, the same energy as if I'd written it this afternoon, that's my job.'

'I always manage to find some little incremental change that I haven't explored before, discovered before that keeps me interested. That's my quest, so you might hear something tonight, might be a mistake.'

The English musician looked in his element as he took to the stage with a very vibrant performance, astonishing guests in attendance.

Earlier in May, Sting and his wife Trudie Styler put on a loved-up display as they posed on the red carpet at the Parthenope premiere during the 77th Cannes Film Festival.

The musician was dressed in a navy blazer and matching trousers, with a pale blue shirt and tropical patterned slip-on shoes.

Meanwhile, the actress, 69, put on a glamorous display in an eye-catching blue gown, teamed with a chunky brown belt and matching clutch bag.
