Stephen King movies either stick its landing or fade away. The past year itself saw many King adaptations on screen, like Glen Powell’s The Running Man reboot, Tom Hiddleston’s Life of Chuck, James Wan’s The Monkey, and an extension of the IT franchise, Welcome to Derry on TV. The author blends themes and horrors across his works, from psychological thrillers and creature features to plain human cruelty and fantastical entries. Every filmmaker brings their own touch to King’s writing that translates well on the big screen.

The movie received mixed responses, proving a decent gamble at the box office, earning $113 million worldwide on a budget of about $66 million. The 66 percent Rotten Tomatoes-rated movie fell short of its expectations. King’s saga seamlessly blends fantasy, horror, western, and science fiction, told across eight novels. So, to sum it up in one movie and satiate book fans proved a daunting task. However, in retrospect, the audience today is more open to mystical elements and layered storytelling, making the movie more interesting. Hence, the movie proves to be a better watch over time, attracting more and more viewers. Now, the movie just got more accessible. The Dark Tower is now available on Tubi for Free. For audiences who’d like to discover sci-fi-fantasy, this will be a good time, as well as for fans who’d love to revisit it.
