If you're like me, you may never catch up on the backlog of games in your Steam library. Between massive seasonal sales, countless indie gems, free demos and limited-time free offers, it's almost too easy to build up a collection of games that would take any respectable gamer years to finish.
One of Steam's biggest appeals is how often players can discover something new without spending a dime. From limited-time giveaways that let you claim games permanently to free weekends offering full access to major releases, there's almost always something worth checking out, especially as we start gearing up for the holiday season. Valve is sure to feature a trove of unique free gems heading into its highly anticipated Winter sale, which takes place this year from December 17, 2026 to January 4, 2027.
However, Steam players have yet another opportunity right now to expand their libraries with eight new free games available to download and keep forever, starting November 2, 2026.
Steam Adds 8 Free Games Available To Claim Now
Starting today, Steam gamers can claim the following eight games completely for free, featuring a range of unique cozy titles, action shooters, horror games, and 3D platformers:
- MoooooN - The cow jumps over the moon
- LOST & FOUND
- Evenin' Shift
- The Loer Chronicles
- MemTown
- PanzerCity
- Prankster Raccoon
- Gas Station Horror
Steam's latest selection of free games includes everything from relaxing exploration adventures to psychological horror, starting with MoooooN - The Cow Jumps Over the Moon, a charming 3D platformer in which players control a cow determined to jump over the moon. You'll explore colorful environments, meet quirky characters, complete quests, unlock upgrades to improve their movement, with plenty of nursery rhyme references throughout.
LOST & FOUND is a first-person job simulator that puts players in charge of organizing a warehouse and returning missing belongings to their owners. Players can customize their workspace, organize inventory, and even compete or cooperate with friends in multiplayer challenges. Evenin' Shift, on the other hand, combines comedy and horror in a 1990s security guard simulator set in Somerset, England. Players must decide who gets into their workplace, complete assignments, and investigate increasingly strange occurrences, with choices and mistakes influencing the outcome.
Next up is The Loer Chronicles, a fantasy roguelike currently in Early Access, featuring automatic combat abilities, elemental weaknesses, and scaling difficulty with harder and harder enemies. Players experiment with different builds across 15 realms. It's worth noting that developers did disclose generative AI use in artwork, icons, music, sound effects, and promotional materials.
After that, MemTown combines creature collecting with life simulation, letting players explore a colorful 3D world and capture creatures called Mems. You develop a settlement through crafting and resource management. PanzerCity is an arcade-style tank combat game, challenging players to survive increasingly difficult waves of enemy vehicles while defending their base. Supporting solo and four-player cooperative gameplay, it features 25 stages and equipment upgrades. However, developers also disclosed extensive AI-assisted asset creation, including music, icons, and imagery, so if that's a deal-breaker for you, this might be a pass.
Prankster Raccoon is a lighthearted third-person adventure where players control a mischievous raccoon exploring human territory, completing quests, and causing trouble. Its reputation system influences different endings.
And finally, Gas Station Horror delivers a short, atmospheric psychological horror experience set during an isolated night shift. Players must refuel vehicles, complete routine tasks, and interact with customers while increasingly unsettling events unfold. The game clocks in at just 20 minutes, with different interactions potentially affecting the ending.
Overall, these eight games aren't necessarily your next game of the year nominees, but if you're looking for something to check out for free and kill some time this month, they're worth adding to your Steam queue.
