With the sheer amount of top-notch games rolling out for free on Steam lately, it'd be understandable if some of them slipped under your radar. In recent weeks, Steam users have been treated to several excellent free offers, including a highly rated single-player banger and a handful of free hit games available for just a limited time.
Further, Steam's free-to-play library is constantly expanding with unique titles, and there are literally dozens of new games being added every week. If you're a fan of cozy co-op games and enjoy original concepts and adorable art styles, there's a brand-new free-to-play action game with a 100% user rating that was just added completely out of nowhere, available to check out now on Steam.
Stitchlings is a brand-new free-to-play couch co-op game for casual gamers that's well worth checking out on Steam, with top-down hack-and-slash style combat. It currently has glowing reviews from players. Fans like codeRamux are saying, "This was an amazing game truly. The people that worked on this are extremely talented and I hope to see more of their work in the future," while gamers like elyk hail its "polished UI, adorable and charming art, and a super unique premise."
Stitchlings features same-screen cooperative gameplay and is designed for two controllers, keyboard and controller, and/or Steam Remote Play, giving players a range of options to enjoy the experience. Gameplay features a unique mechanic "where the monsters you defeat become parts to stitch onto your character, allowing you to customize your combat style and dress up your Stitchling!"
The game was created by indie developers Studio Woolworks and published by USC Games, and was just released on May 12 as a free-to-play experience. It's a short and sweet casual game that can be completed in about an hour or so, and it has fans wanting more from the indie studio, with players like ham saying plainly: "cool game make longer."
Stitchlings allows players to try out a small range of different playstyles "by swapping out 5 unique trinkets" and "5 collectible cosmetic items" that offer various stat bonuses, giving each Stitchling its own custom feel. The game has also drawn attention on YouTube after its official launch this week, with players demanding official plushie collectible versions of the adorable Stitchlings as well.
While it's currently unclear if the studio behind Stitchlings has anything other big projects in the works or additional content/DLC planned for this game itself, it's clear that players on Steam are in love with this game's premise, art style, and casual approach to co-op gameplay.
