Thanks to previous work at GAMINGbible, GameByte, The Loadout, Game Luster, Angharad has built a strong understanding of both the digital world and what fans want from it and is eager to share her thoughts and expertise with readers.

With there being a bit of a lull between some of the biggest game releases this year, now is the perfect time to get a taste of what the second half of the year has in store. 2026 has already welcomed some incredible titles, such as Mina the Hollower, Pokémon Pokopia, Resident Evil Requiem, and Forza Horizon 6, to name but a few, but with the rest of the year still having some absolute bangers under its hat, now is the perfect time to get up-to-date with some of gaming's recent releases.

Well, courtesy of Steam, PC users can get a taste of some brand-new releases courtesy of its thousands of free demos. Not only do these demos give you the chance to try-before-you-buy, but you can also help the game's development by offering valuable feedback to its studio. So, if you are looking for some amazing titles to potentially splash the cash and purchase fully, make sure to check these five upcoming demos out first.

First up is The Lure, an indie mystery game where you will take on the role of John, a detective searching for his missing colleague. However, he soon finds himself trapped in a mysterious loop where reality constantly changes, and a simple search for his friend becomes a psychological horror experience. Explore eerie environments, search for clues, and most importantly, uncover the truth in this third-person horror mystery title.

Next is Dungeon Slasher, an action roguelike with a simple premise: navigate maps filled with enemies and destroy all who get in your way. With different characters and artifacts to choose from in order to create perfect synergy, no two runs are the same as you embark on non-stop action and chaos.

On the topic of chaos, Hyperfist is a fast-paced, comic-style, first-person melee action game with a focus on hand-to-hand combat. As such, you will need to grab and punch your enemies as you take on the role of Heath, a local punch who just so happens to have the use of mechanical arms. With robotic enemies to kill and a melee combat system to master, Hyperfist is perfect for those wanting to sit back, relax, and do some serious damage in a stunning and colorful environment.

There is also Take Care of the Dog, a title we have already discussed here on Screen Rant, but one that is taking Steam by storm. What first appears as a simple interactive fiction game soon takes a turn for the worst, but we will leave that discovery up to you. Last but not least is Neverness to Everness, the latest open-world gacha game on the block. Set in an urban open-world, you will discover the city's mysteries as you build your team, learn new abilities, and most importantly, do some gambling.

All of these titles and thousands more are free to play on Steam right now, so do not miss out on discovering a brand-new hidden gem.
