Stardew Valley Player Comes Up With Adorably Silly Alternative To Scarecrows

1 week ago 7

Having no scarecrows didn't stop one Stardew Valley player from trying to keep crows off their crops, in the most polite and adorable way. Scarecrows are used to keep crows away from crops, protecting a certain range from the pesky birds. To craft a scarecrow, players need to collect 50 wood, 20 fiber, and one lump of coal, but it can take a beginning farmer some time to acquire these crafting ingredients.

Reddit user coffeeinhaler found themselves in this predicament, unable to craft a scarecrow but wanting to protect their small patch of crops. Luckily, they came up with an adorable solution, placing a sign next to the field that simply says "Crows, stay away plz."

Many of the comments in the Reddit thread play along with the Redditor, sharing memes in response and showing how sad the crows must be to realize that they aren't allowed to visit anymore. User Nerril hilariously responded with a well-known meme showing DW from the children's show Arthur staring at a door with a note on it and proclaiming, "That sign can't stop me because I can't read!"

Stardew Valley Scarecrows And Rarecrows Are A Must For Any Farm

They Keep Away The Crows And Add A Touch Of Style And Whimsy

Scarecrows are, as the name suggests, used to scare crows away from the farm on the player's farm in Stardew Valley. Every in-game day, there's a chance of crows spawning and eating some of the farm's precious crops. These crows can wreak havoc on the crops, making it hard for beginning players to make money by planting crops.

Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update is debuting on consoles not in its original form, but in the enhanced version 1.6.9 - new to PCs today, too.

Besides their practical use, scarecrows are also a cute design element and add a touch of whimsy to the farm as decor. In fact, there are nine special "rarecrows," which work the same way as the scarecrow but have unique designs. Obtaining these rarecrows ranges in difficulty from earning them on special occasions to unlocking them through certain achievements. Some players find it satisfying to acquire and display all the scarecrow designs, and maybe coffeeinhaler will eventually be able to upgrade their sign to the full collection.
