Star Wars fans have seen a wave of incredible new games over the past few years, with several exciting new titles on the way as well. Star Wars Jedi looks like it could be getting an official third entry, while the open-world Star Wars Outlaws has been a massive hit among longtime fans.

Further, the Clone Wars strategy game Star Wars Zero Company is officially set to launch on August 27, with Star Wars: Galactic Racer following in October. Further out, Quantic Dream's ambitious High Republic adventure Star Wars Eclipse remains in development, while Fate of the Old Republic, a new narrative RPG led by original Knights of the Old Republic director Casey Hudson, was unveiled late last year.

With so many different corners of the galaxy being explored, there's plenty for fans to look forward to, and in a surprise announcement at D23 earlier this month, it looks like Star Wars fans are getting yet another new game to add to the roster, with the reveal of Star Wars: Smugglers Gambit (via Disney).

Smuggler’s Gambit is a "first-of-its-kind" new Star Wars experience inside Fortnite that directly connects with the real-world Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction at Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Developed in-house by Disney Games and Digital Entertainment with Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Imagineering, the Fortnite island is set around Mersa Veta Station on Ord Ryla, where players take jobs for Hondo Ohnaka, complete co-op missions, fight pirates and Imperial remnants, encounter hostile wildlife, unlock gear, and build their reputation in the Outer Rim.

What makes it unusual is that the adventure can move between the theme park and Fortnite itself. Guests visiting Smugglers Run can accept a special mission while waiting in the attraction queue through the Disneyland app or My Disney Experience app. During the physical ride, players help Hondo collect crates, and those results can unlock rewards that carry over into Fortnite. Alternatively, players can begin the mission directly from the Smuggler’s Gambit island without visiting the parks.

To receive the post-ride Fortnite rewards, eligible guests need to link their MyDisney account to their Epic Games account. One confirmed reward is the Forsworn Trooper Outfit, and guests who ride but aren’t eligible to link accounts can instead receive a code to redeem their reward in Fortnite.

The connected Smugglers Run experience and Star Wars: Smuggler’s Gambit Fornite island launched August 16, 2026, and are available now, with the park component included at no additional cost beyond valid theme-park admission. If you're visiting Disney and looking for a truly unique hybrid video game experience, be sure to swing by Smugglers Run and check it out for yourself.
