Star Wars has become such an enormous franchise that has been adapted into so many different mediums that it can be pretty impossible to keep up with all of them. In the game department, there are plenty of options, regardless of how you like to play, but one of the very best remains Star Wars: Unlimited.
Developed by Fantasy Flight Games, Unlimited is a dynamic trading card game that draws in all of the most iconic elements from the franchise over the years, and it's still receiving support all the time. Now, we've had confirmation of their plans for the next few sets, and it includes a spotlight being thrust on the most infamous family in the galaxy once again.
Custom image by Katarina CimbaljevicAs first reported by W Eric Martin, Fantasy Flight Games is currently running their major championship for the game, and as part of that, they broadcast the Galactic Report to present a roadmap for what's coming to Star Wars: Unlimited through 2027.
The next big set is Star Wars: Unlimited – Homeworlds in October 2026, which features iconic characters like Chewbacca and Grand Moff Tarkin, but after that, we'll be moving into the Legacy of Skywalker set. Though we don't have too many details on what exactly the cards are going to be, it will take the form of a standard booster set that should feature all the Skywalker's from across the eras.
If that sounds exciting, but you have yet to play the game yet, the Homeworlds release could be the perfect opportunity. It feels a bit like the culmination of this period in the game's history, as this statement from the manufacturer confirms:
"As we head into the second half of Star Wars™: Unlimited’s third year, there is one facet of the Star Wars galaxy that has remained relatively unexplored within the game. We’ve seen epic space battles, legendary Force users, cutthroat galactic politics, and more blaster-toting, credit-chasing outlaws than you can count. What we haven’t seen that much are the vast multitude of alien worlds that make up a large part of the galaxy—as well as the myriad creatures that call them home.
"Welcome to the official first look at Homeworlds, the exciting next set of Star Wars: Unlimited!
"As implied by its name—and as we alluded to above—this set turns its focus onto the various planets of the Star Wars galaxy, with a heavy emphasis on alien creatures and the invading armies they defend against. With two new tokens and a new keyword that allows you to upgrade your base, Homeworlds is sure to shake up the game in all sorts of new and exciting ways!"
The set includes spotlight decks with the aforementioned Chewy and Tarkin, as well as two new token types in Beast and Weakness, and the introduction of the new Fortify keyword.
On the movie front, there's still plenty going on for Star Wars fans, with Star Wars: Starfighter, directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Gosling, slated for release on May 28, 2027. Rumors of a new trilogy continue to swirl as well, while Rey’s New Jedi Order movie has also been confirmed as in development.
