Star Wars Is Ready to Make History with a Long-Awaited Wedding And Honestly? More May Be On the Way.

2 weeks ago 8

Listen up, Star Wars fans. The comics just made with their first canon wedding to date. The wedding between Lula Talisola and Zeen Mrala, two freedom fighters championing the resistance against the Nihil, has gone live at last amid the High Republic era. Of course, there was one other Star Wars wedding in the Legends comics continuity as Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade said "I Do" in Star Wars: Union (1999) #2. But of course, this new wedding is a first in Star Wars' new continuity. You won’t want to miss out, so RSVP ASAP because the date is set!

In Star Wars: The High Republic - The Wedding Spectacular (2024) #1, written by Daniel Jose Older, guests from across the galaxy gather on the planet Eriadu to witness the loving union of Lula Talisola and Zeen Mrala, two young freedom fighters against the Nihil. Though the day of the wedding may be the happiest day of the girls' lives, it is definitely not the most peaceful. The fighters are in the middle of a war, and a bloody battle could break out at any moment.

Star Wars Weddings Do Not Have a History of Being Peaceful

Will Lula and Zeen Get Their Happy Ending?

Out of the two existing Star Wars weddings, neither of them were very simple or peaceful. Seeing as this is Star Wars, there is almost always a war or some kind of conflict going on, so that is no different now. In The High Republic - The Wedding Spectacular, the Battle of Eriadu is quickly approaching, so its two brides are anticipating an attack from the Nihil at any moment. As they prepare for their wedding, the couple must rush through the halls, trying to decipher who their allies are before the ceremony begins and chaos breaks out.

Din Djarin Will Never Have A Star Wars Romance (& He Doesn't Need One)

There are some who think Din Djarin needs a partner in The Mandalorian, but the series has already given him the only one he’ll ever need.

Once Lula and Zeen are officially wed, there is no time for cake. The duo immediately rushes off to begin the Battle of Eriadu. Similarly, the wedding of Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade was no less eventful during the Legends continuity. Ahead of their private wedding, Mara's dressmaker finds themselves attacked, but that is not all. The ambush was only a distraction for a former imperial officer Derran Takkar to hijack the wedding in an attempt to destroy all communications within the New Republic. Of course, Luke was able to talk Derran down, and the wedding went on as planned.

This Wedding Could Be the First of Many in Star Wars' New Continuity

It Seems Like Luke Started a Trend Back In the Day

While Star Wars rarely dives into weddings, Marvel Comics is no stranger to wedding issues. In fact, superheroes get married almost every year at this point in the Marvel Universe. While Star Wars: The High Republic - Wedding Spectacular is not published by Marvel, the publisher does oversee Star Wars comics, and there are plenty of galactic weddings for the team to cover. The wedding of Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala could be adapted into a wedding special, giving fans a better look at the event than what was given Attack of the Clones. Even the wedding of Luke Skywalker could be made canon if that's the direction Lucasfilm wants to take with its new canon.

If this Wedding Spectacular does well for Star Wars, there is a good chance that fans will have more weddings to attend in the future, so you might want to get yourself ready for the rush. There is nothing quite like attending a wedding, and Star Wars nuptials are especially out of this world.
