EXCLUSIVE: Stacy Weitz is stepping down as SVP Corporate Communications at Sony Pictures Entertainment after a decade working for the studio’s Sony Pictures Television division. She will be departing at the end of the month.

“Stacy is one of those rare executives who is unfailingly principled and leads with integrity and warmth,” SPE’s Chief Communications Officer Tahra Grant said. “Those qualities have been invaluable in complex moments requiring the greatest care, and she is beloved by those who have had the privilege of working alongside her. We celebrate her incredible career and the lasting impact she’s had on SPE. Her partnership and leadership will be missed.”

Veteran entertainment communications executive Weitz joined Sony in 2016 as VP Corporate Communications and was promoted to SVP two years later. In February, following the hire of Stephanie Clark as SVP, Corporate Communications for Sony Pictures, Weitz’s role shifted to focus on international production, global distribution, and the game show group.

That is an area Weitz had dedicated a lot of her efforts to, as noted in Grant’s internal memo on her departure.

“For 10 years Stacy has supported our global television businesses, guiding communications strategy during defining moments for the studio and advancing growth narratives around franchises such as Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!,” Grant wrote, highlighting Weitz’s communications work on major distribution and licensing deals, leadership transitions and acquisitions, including Industrial Media and Crunchyroll.

Prior to joining SPE, Weitz was SVP of Corporate Communications at PMK BNC, and before that was a corporate communications executive at UTA, Bender/Helper Impact, and Jane Ayer PR.
