During Amazon's annual upfronts on Monday, the streamer let loose a first look at Academy Award-winner (and genre icon) Nicolas Cage as the titular hero in the buzzy comic book series Spider-Noir

Spider-Noir was first introduced on the big screen in 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The character, which is part of the Marvel Noir comics universe, was introduced to the paneled page in 2009. It follows an alternate reality version of Peter Parker -- this one is a struggling private investigator in 1930s New York who's seen better days -- who suffers a spider bite that gives him superpowers.

A masked vigilante upholding justice in the Big Apple during the Great Depression? Yes, that about sums up the comic and the upcoming live-action TV series from MGM Plus and Prime Video.

The show also stars Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Jack Huston and Lukas Haas, among many others.

Oren Uziel (The Lost City, 22 Jump Street) and Steve Lightfoot (Marvel's The Punisher, Shantaram) will executive produce and co-showrun the project, which was developed with the Academy Award-winning creative team who brought Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse to the big screen: Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal.

Spider-Noir will be presented in both black and white and color; the highly anticipated program will premiere in 2026 on MGM Plus and Prime Video.
