Tom Holland's Peter Parker is finally returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe this summer in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, after being absent from the franchise since Phase 4. The MCU timeline is currently in the midst of Phase 6 as it's leading up to the next Avengers films, but not before finally checking in with the web-crawler.
In an interview with Variety, Sony Pictures CEO Tom Rothman was asked about updates on Spider-Man: Brand New Day and if he had seen any footage at this point, as the film wrapped principal photography in December 2025. Rothman said, "We have not seen a cut yet, I have seen all the dailies. I think it's going to be one of the most surprising and terrific movies - as a movie - [as] an incredible Spider-Man movie, and Destin has done a tremendous job, tremendous!"
Rothman was also asked if Spider-Man: Brand New Day would be Holland's final film as the web-slinger, to which he said, "Next time Tom is on the line, ask him!" To this point, there have been no reports to indicate that the Phase 6 installment will be the actor's final time starring in a Spider-Man movie.
The Spider-Man: Brand New Day story is being kept heavily under wraps, from big mysteries such as who Sadie Sink is playing, to how the Hulk and Punisher fit into the overall arc. Holland's solo film will be the last character-centric MCU film before Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Other actors who will be part of the Spider-Man: Brand New Day cast include Michael Mando, coming back as Mac Gargan, better known to comic readers as the Scorpion. Marvin Jones III is also making his MCU debut as Lonnie Lincoln, a.k.a. Tombstone, a role he also voiced in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios' Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to release on July 31.
