Sophia Bush finally reveals One Tree Hill co-star Hilarie Burton warned her about dating Chad Michael Murray

Sophia Bush has finally confirmed that it was her One Tree Hill co-star Hilarie Burton who had warned her about dating Chad Michael Murray whom she eventually married for less than half a year.

The 44-year-old actress, who is married to former soccer star Ashlyn Harris, made the revelation during an appearance on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast in an episode released on Wednesday.

The star said that Burton, now 44, and Murray, now 45, had 'worked together on another show' and that it 'wasn't a great experience.'

Bush told the 32-year-old host that Burton, who was 'one of' her 'closest friends on set' as they are still pals to this day, had 'explicitly' told her 'do not date [Murray].'

'You know, it was good advice,' Bush explained as she said that she 'just didn't have the wherewithal or experience' to actually take her pal's advice.

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Murray, and Burton and has yet to hear back. Bush's representatives refused further comment.

Bush's marriage to her co-star lasted a mere five months in 2005.

This is not the first time the actress has candidly discussed their relationship as in January 2017, she discussed the much-publicized demise and aftermath of the relationship in an open letter published by Cosmopolitan.

While she didn't mention the actor by name, Bush said: 'In my 20s, when I was starting out my career as an actor, I wasn't looking for a relationship, but one found me and became serious, even though I hadn't planned to settle down until my 30s,

'But when the person you're with asks you to marry him, you think: "This must be happening because it's supposed to."

The Chicago Fire star added: 'I refuse to let that one relationship define me, which is why I've done my best to avoid discussing it for 10 years,

'The reality is that, yes, it was a massive event in my life. And the trauma of it was amplified by how public it became, which was incredibly foreign and bizarre to a girl who'd been just another college kid 24 months before her life blew up.'

Bush also wrote about how people should stop searching for 'The One' and that every relationship, no matter how short lived, can serve a purpose.

'Some are meant to heal you, some are meant to teach you how to build yourself up and some are meant to show you how to trust your own intuition,' she explained. 

'Not every love can last forever. When you take the pressure of The One off, you'll open yourself up to endless possibilities, she went on.

'You'll learn to have a truly deep, knowing relationship with yourself first. Then the rest will fall into place. Reasons, seasons, and lifetimes. They’re all valid.' 

Bush and Murray married in Santa Monica in April 2005 but announced their separation just five months later and their divorce was finalized in December 2006.

The actress tried to have the union annulled citing fraud but the request was denied.

 In 2014 she said of the relationship: 'We were two stupid kids who had no business being in a relationship in the first place. To all the other co-stars who've worked it out, more power to you' 

Last month, Bush revealed that she married 41-year-old soccer star Harris secretly in an intimate ceremony in upstate New York in 2025.

Murray married current wife Sarah Roemer in 2015 as they share three children together. 

One Tree Hill aired over nine seasons on The CW from 2003 to 2012.
