If leaks are anything to go by, Sonos may have new speakers coming soon. One of the speakers, if this Reddit post is to be believed, is a new, portable speaker called the Sonos Play, which was seen listed prematurely on Canadian Best Buy. According to the listing, spotted by someone casually browsing for a new speaker, apparently, the Play could be released as soon as March 31.
There wasn’t a ton of information, but according to the Reddit post, the listing states that Sonos’ new Play gets 24 hours of battery, which is pretty solid. Here’s the full description per Reddit:
“Take quality sound wherever you go with the Sonos Play Bluetooth wireless speaker. Its compact design fits easily in your hand, while automatic Trueplay tuning optimizes audio for any environment. Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth let you stream high‑quality audio from different devices and sources. Up to 24 hours of battery life avoids the need for frequent recharging.”
If the Sonos Play has your interest piqued, a subsequent leak from Bilbil-Kun on X may have what you need. According to the frequent leaker, the Sonos Play could be available in both black and white options and cost around $299, slotting it in between the Sonos Era 100 and the Sonos Move 2. Preorders could also start as soon as March 10, meaning we may get official news on the Sonos Play imminently.
And if the Sonos Play wasn’t enough Sonos gossip for you, there may also be a new, cheaper counterpart incoming. Bilbil-Kun also mentions the Sonos Era 100 SL, which is obviously based on the existing Sonos Era 100, but allegedly does not have microphones, meaning it can’t be used as a smart speaker. According to leaks, the price could make it among the most affordable speakers in Sonos’ lineup, too, at $189, which is only $10 more than the Sonos Roam 2. For the record, the Sonos Era 100 does not have a battery—it’s wired and requires a power adapter to work. From what we’ve seen, it would appear the new version also requires a wire.
Oh, and we’ve got additional pictures courtesy of leaker Evan Blass. Not the most illustrative angles in the world, but we get a better look at colorways and ports.

There’s not a ton to go off of here, but based on what we know, it looks like Sonos’ upcoming lineup could be solid. Obviously, much will depend on the ultimate pricing and whether these portable speakers can actually deliver on sound quality, but leaks would suggest that both options are competitive in price with big names like Bose and JBL. If the rumors are correct, all will be revealed in a week, so I’m sure we’ll be checking back in soon with more info.
