Sonic’s Knuckles Spinoff Gets Disappointing Season 2 Update Two Years Later

The chances of Knuckles season 2 appear unlikely, with one of the series' stars offering a disappointing update about the future of the popular Sonic the Hedgehog spinoff.

Following the massive success of Paramount's live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movies, the franchise expanded onto streaming in 2024 with Knuckles, a six-episode Paramount+ series centered on Idris Elba's fan-favorite echidna warrior. The series followed Knuckles as he trained Wade Whipple (Adam Pally) in the ways of the Echidna warrior while battling new enemies and adapting to life on Earth.

Speaking with The Direct, Pally addressed the possibility of Knuckles season 2, revealing that another season was never necessarily part of the original plan. Read his comments below:

It was a limited series, so… I don't know if that was ever truly in the cards. But I do know that the franchise is strong and running on a full tank of gas, so to speak. There's a lot of plans and surprises.

Pally’s comments about the expanding franchise ring true, as what began as a single video game adaptation has grown into one of Hollywood's most successful family-friendly franchises. Following installments only increased the franchise's popularity, introducing beloved characters like Knuckles, Tails, and Shadow while steadily expanding its world.
