Smallville actor Tom Welling is laughing off the accidental nude photo he shared on Instagram over the weekend.

On Saturday, the 49-year-old star innocuously uploaded a snapshot of the New York City skyline from his hotel room. But he gave his 2.3 million followers an eyeful as his naked reflection was visible in the window.

He responded to the mishap lightheartedly, commenting on an Instagram post poking fun at the incident.

Social media star Trevor Larcom shared a reel with the caption, 'POV you're a tourist in NYC and see Tom Welling standing at his hotel window on October 10th.'

Welling then commented, 'Came for the sights,' racking up more than 63,000 likes.

The entertainer reunited with his former co-stars in the Big Apple for Comic Con.

He was joined at The Road to Superman: 25 Years of Smallville event by his co-stars Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang), Erica Durance (Lois Lane) and Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor).

Smallville aired from October 2001 to May 2011, first on The WB from seasons one to five, then The CW from seasons six to ten.

The show told the coming-of-age story of a young Clark Kent in Smallville, Kansas, years before he became Superman as he dealt with teenage issues while hiding his progressing superhuman powers.

Welling, whose other credits include the TV series Lucifer and the Cheaper by the Dozen movies, has been angling to get a potential Smallville revival off the ground with co-star Rosenbaum.

'We want it to work,' Welling told Screen Rant in a November 2024 interview. 'The honest answer is we have not been able to get Warner Brothers to give us the thumbs up. We need their permission.

'We haven't even gotten a response. It's the weirdest thing because it is more of a fan-driven idea. It's not going to be a blockbuster. It's not going to be a financial windfall for any of us.

'We all like each other, we all like working together, and if we could do it, it'd be fun.

'But Warner Bros. - and I'm not hating on them - they just haven't gotten back to us. It's not a priority for them. It's like a not-returning-phone-calls-thing,' he added.

During a 2021 interview with the YouTube channel El mundo geek de Ernestoneitor, Welling admitted that it 'would be cool' to don Superman's suit for one more time and suggested that he could star opposite Pattinson in The Batman.

'My buddy Rob Pattinson, he's going to be the new Batman. It would be fun to be the Superman that shows up in his movie, just because he's a friend of mine,' he said.

He added: 'But, you know, who knows?'

Welling's most recent acting credit was in the movie Chasing Summer, which premiered during Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah in January.

He currently hosts the Smallville rewatch podcast TalkVille with former co-star Rosenbaum.

In 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Welling relocated from Los Angeles with his wife, Jessica Rose Lee, and their sons, Thomson, seven, and Rocklin, five, to a ranch in Northern California.

'No one bothers you in a small town,' he told People in January. 'Everyone's famous in a small town.'
