2026 is proving to be a pivotal year for Slow Horses star Jack Lowden. The Apple TV spy series he stars in alongside Gary Oldman just wrapped its sixth season and remains as popular as ever, with seasons 7 and 8 already secured to keep the agents at Slough House coming back for more on a yearly cadence. At the same time, however, he's in the running to become a very different, even more towering agent than River Cartwright — James Bond. Alongside Josh O'Connor and Callum Turner, he's one of four finalists reported to be in the running to play 007 in Denis Villeneuve's much-anticipated entry in the franchise based on Ian Fleming's legendary series of novels. First, however, he has another literary icon to embody.

After a reintroduction to the Dashwood sisters earlier this month with the latest adaptation of Sense and Sensibility, it's now nearly time to meet Mr. Darcy. Netflix has shared the official trailer for its six-part Pride and Prejudice series adaptation, set to premiere on December 3, and it's enough to get viewers yearning for more. It provides a gorgeous, sun-drenched look at the newest take on Jane Austen's legendary novel, starring Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet alongside Lowden as her proud gentleman love interest. Billed as a faithful rendition of the tale, the series will follow the pair as they grow from adversaries to lovers against the backdrop of 19th-century English society.

The footage teases the "chaotic" life of the five Bennet sisters and their "very animated mother (Olivia Colman)" as they navigate love and societal expectations when wealthy bachelors come calling. At the center are Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, who initially trade barbs with one another and clash as the latter's friend, Mr. Bingley (Daryl McCormack), gets her sister Jane's (Freya Mavor) attention. However, circumstances and unexpected encounters ultimately see them gravitate towards each other as Elizabeth wrestles with her own feelings and the nature of love. A lot can change in a year, and how their legendary romance blossoms over time is lightly teased throughout this first proper look, which also provides a boisterous portrait of the Bennets' sisterhood as they go from "playing at being ladies" to becoming them.

Everything I Know About Love's Dolly Alderton penned the series based on Austen's novel, with another Netflix romance favorite in Heartstopper's Euros Lyn directing each episode. Hopey Parish, Hollie Avery, and Rhea Norwood play the other Bennet sisters alongside Jamie Demetriou as Mr. Collins, Louis Partridge as Mr. Wickham, and Fiona Shaw as Lady Catherine de Bourgh, among others. In a quote shared with Tudum, Alderton expressed how she felt Pride and Prejudice remains a story worth experiencing in 2026 because of how universal the emotions of Lizzie and everyone else in her life are, especially now.

“Pride and Prejudice is such a timeless story because of the emotions in the book; they are as pertinent now as they were in 1812. Embarrassment of your family, fear that you’re going to get left behind, fear that the world is not going to be a safe place for your children as it was for you, mortification that you judged someone incorrectly or that you had been misjudged. We go to that book to see our hearts reflected in it.”

Pride and Prejudice arrives on Netflix on December 3. Check out the trailer in the player above.
