Slitterhead Rarity characters with mask and motorcycle helmet but different eyes

The supernatural spirit you play as in Slitterhead can possess anyone it comes across, but special "Rarity" characters can be recruited due to the unique powers they gain from being controlled. While you can forcibly take over everyone you come across, their blood is not strong enough to fend off the monsters you must fight. Rarities have strong combat abilities that help you fight back against various horrors.

Slitterhead revolves around possessing random individuals to defend yourself against many terrifying creatures that pursue you. Unlike hide-and-seek horror titles, this game has robust combat mechanics tied to Rarity characters. Instead of taking over a random citizen likely to die quickly, you can co-exist within a Rarity to wield specific abilities and powers tied to those characters.

Find Everyone Special Throughout Different Missions

Slitterhead Julee Rarity character recruited from Prologue mission

You can recruit Rarities to make them selectable before missions. This gives you a way to start a mission already wielding the powers of characters you'd prefer to use. For example, when you get the Rarity Julee during the game's prologue, you can use them to be your starting character for any mission you embark on in the future.

Key art from Slitterhead shows a collage of all its principal characters, above the game's title in both English and kanji. At the center of the image, Alex walks down a street in his motorcycle helmet.

Some of the best horror games offer you multiple ways to play, with Rarities in Slitterhead being a great way to replay missions for a new experience. With each character's unique powers and skills, some may be more adept at taking down some bosses or enemies faster. To find which Rarity character is best for you, you'll want to recruit everyone possible as you progress through the story.

If you are struggling to find certain characters, don't be afraid to explore the areas where missions take place. The more people you possess, the more clues you can find regarding a Rarity's location. Once you have found a way to recruit every character in Slitterhead, you will have a full team of people prepared to face any threat as you try to get to the bottom of this monstrous epidemic.
