Simon Cowell brought his critical eye and cutting comments to Domino's in the popular pizza chain's newest batch of adverts this week.

The Britain's Got Talent judge, 64, took on a new judge role reviewing pizzas as Domino's 'quality captain' in a new advert for the company.

The clips are filled with some of Simon's classic phrases made famous from his time on X Factor and American Idol.

During the advert, the music mogul emphasises his desire for perfection by telling staff their initial efforts were 'terrible' and 'pathetic'.

At the start of one of the clips, a voiceover says: 'At Domino's, our stores now have quality captains, those who demand perfection.'

Simon then challenges three employees to 'impress him' however, their first pizzas are not up to par.

He tells them: 'Terrible, pathetic, I hate it.'

However, some pizzas impress the TV personality as he tells a group of employees anxiously holding hands like contestants on a talent show: 'It's a yes.'

At the end, one customer is surprised by the familiar face behind the register.

After Simon hands the customer their pizza, they call a friend on the phone and shockingly say 'Guess who works at Domino's?'

The next 30-second ad is similar and emphasises the importance of placing toppings correctly.

Simon tells one employee during the opening: 'Topping distribution: horrible.'

'That's a million percent no,' he tells another employee, who replies, 'Noted.'

However, the employees impress Simon by the end of his review run as he says 'It's a definite yes' with a smile.

The collaboration was an obvious choice for the pizza chain as Domino's Senior Vice President Kate Trumbull said Simon 'demands excellence' on and off stage – to which Simon agrees.

He said in a statement: 'Domino's demands greatness. They know exactly what it means to deliver the perfect pizza. Domino's is a definite yes from me.'
