Major spoilers ahead for Silo season 3's episode 10.After walking through two compelling timelines, Silo season 3 ends on a shocking note. In its final moments, the season of the Apple TV sci-fi show reveals what Juliette plans to do next to be able to save her people and everyone from all other silos. Meanwhile, Daniel, who forgot about his past and was renamed Troy in the present timeline, finally remembers the truth about the Silo Project.
With these ending sequences, Silo season 3 concludes its run with many compelling story threads intentionally left hanging. It perfectly prepares viewers for the endgame, establishing that Juliette's fight for freedom is far from over. Silo season 3 reveals many details about the central silos' origins and why they were built.
However, many questions have still been left unanswered. Little seems to be known about what triggered the end of the world. Nukes or nanobots? Many details about the origins and the purpose of the silos also do not make sense. Thankfully, season 3's ending leaves enough room for viewers to speculate while they wait for Silo season 4.
What Victor’s Message Means For Troy/Daniel In Silo Season 3’s Ending
Daniel was portrayed as one of the morally righteous characters in Silo season 3's past timeline. He and Helen only agreed to become a part of the Silo Project because they were told it was meant for an extreme emergency scenario where the threat from nanobots could completely wipe out humanity.
However, as seen in Silo season 3, the two characters were intentionally separated after nukes seemingly destroyed the outside world.
Considering how Daniel felt betrayed when he was separated from Helen and forcefully sent to Silo 1, there is no way he would have complied with the silos' other authorities. In the present timeline, however, he wakes up from cryogenic sleep and seems like a completely different character.
He seems even more ruthless than villains like Bernard, as he shows no mercy towards the people who defy the silos' rules. This change in his personality comes from the memory-erasing drugs that make him forget about his past and even Helen. He keeps dreaming about Helen but struggles to recall what she meant to him.
After Juliette's team manages to seal the Safeguard pipe and save their Silo from the Safeguard procedure, Victor realizes that, as the frontrunners of the Silo Project, they have completely lost their way. Before dying by suicide, he leaves a video message for Daniel in which he reminds him about Helen.
As soon as Daniel sees the message, he suddenly remembers his past. His eyes fill with tears as he seemingly recalls how he was separated from Helen. Victor's message seems to bypass the effect of the memory-erasing drugs on Daniel. Owing to this, it seems likely that Daniel will return to being the hero in Silo season 4 and try his best to help Juliette save the world.
Juliette’s Plan To Help All Silos Explained
After saving her people from the Safeguard Procedure, Juliette deduces that going out of their Silo's main entrance would not make sense. Silo 17's residents did the same and faced dire consequences. At the same time, she also realizes that she and her people cannot afford to play defense because that is exactly what the people from Silo 1 would expect.
Owing to this, she suggests that they should go all offense with their rebellion. Instead of holding themselves back and only fighting for their survival, they should aim to target Silo 1 and its authoritative residents who have oppressed them and their people for centuries. In season 4, she will likely try to find a way out of Silo 18 and help people trapped in other silos.
While at it, she will also come up with a plan to attack Silo 1 to ensure the "founders" cannot harm more innocents in the name of serving the greater good.
Why Victor Dies By Suicide In Silo Season 3, Episode 10
In the past timeline, Victor seemingly knew where the Silo Project was heading. Despite this, he always meant well. He even created memory-altering drugs to help people deal with trauma instead of misusing them to alter humanity's entire history. After talking to Camille in Silo season 3's finale, he realizes that, in the pursuit of preserving humanity, he and Silo 1's authoritative figures have actually lost all morality.
Camille shows him a mirror, which helps him reflect on his past and think about all the decisions that led him to the present.
Owing to this, instead of going through another cycle of cryogenic sleep, he decided to die by suicide. He looks at pictures of his late wife and daughter and recalls the real reason why he created the memory-erasing drugs. To ensure that he does some good in the world before leaving, he leaves a message for Daniel that reminds him of what Helen meant to him.
What Is The Point Of An External Safeguard In Silo?
The outside world in Silo is supposed to be so toxic that characters end up dead minutes after they step out. In the past timeline, it was also hinted that nuclear blasts destroyed and polluted the outside world to a point where it became inhabitable for humans. Many characters, like Bernard, Allison, and Holston, have also previously died after leaving Silo 18.
However, if the air in the outside world is actually so toxic, why did Daniel (Troy) feel the need to deploy drones over Silo 18 for an "External Safeguard." Not to mention, how were people from Silo 17 fine after they left their silo and only died after they were shot at using drones.
This development seems to tease that the outside world is safe. It has probably healed from the impact left by the nuclear blasts. But if the world has healed and can be repopulated by humans, why are people still being held captive in silos? There is certainly more to the Silo Project than meets the eye.
As Camille and Juliette pointed out, if its purpose was only to sustain humanity after a world-ending event, the founders would never install Safeguard procedures to wipe out full silos in one go.
How Silo Season 3’s Ending Sets Up Season 4
Since Daniel's memories have returned, he will probably help his sister, Charlotte, recall how they were forced inside Silo 1. He and Charlotte could then help Juliette and her people escape and repopulate the outside world in season 4 before it is too late. However, even characters like Thurman and Stensen are probably still around. They must be in cryogenic sleep, waiting for their "shift" to take over Silo 1.
Silo season 4 is scheduled to premiere on Apple TV in Summer 2027.
Given how they were morally skewed from the beginning, they will likely attempt to stop Daniel and Juliette. Juliette has also taken it upon herself to save people from other silos. Her ambition is commendable, but achieving this feat will not be easy, especially because the authorities in Silo 1 have advanced weaponized drones and other powerful resources.
Silo season 4 serves as the endgame for the Apple TV series and will seemingly feature an all-out war between Juliette and the founders. It will also reveal the truth about why the Silo Project was created in the first place and whether the end of the world was a mere hoax or an inside job.
