Sian Welby has revealed she rushed her daughter to hospital on Tuesday evening after the infant suffered an 'extreme' health scare.

The worried presenter took immediate action after 21-month old Ruby - her only child with fiancé Jake Beckett - began convulsing at home.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Welby, 39, praised the National Health Service and confirmed she had returned home with her daughter, who had been suffering with febrile convulsions.

The condition, which affects children between six months and six years old, is commonly triggered by a high fever caused by colds and minor infections.

Typical symptoms include stiffness, jerking limbs, loss of consciousness, vomiting and, in some cases, urinating - but the condition is understood to be harmless.

Former The Only Way Is Essex star Billie Faiers had previously detailed her own daughter's struggle with febrile convulsions on her latest reality show, Sam & Billie: Sister Act.

Sian Welby was given a scare on Tuesday evening after daughter Ruby was rushed to hospital following a seizure

Welby told followers: 'For those asking after little Rubes. We had a long night in A&E as she had a very high temperature and was having something called febrile convulsions.

'Almost like extreme shivering with really jerky movements. It’s quite scary and she’s had them before, so we were told to go straight to A&E to have her checked over.'

She added: 'We’re back home now and she’s doing really well. Thanks for the lovely messages asking after us all.

'And thanks so much to the doctors and nurses at St George’s who looked after her and even gave her a teddy for being brave.

'We’re so lucky to have the NHS.'

The presenter accompanied her post with a photo of Ruby in a hospital cot, surrounded by soft toys.

Welby, who often shares behind-the-scenes glimpses of her presenting stints ITV show This Morning and Capital Breakfast on social media, recently admitted she has struggled to find a work life balance since welcoming her daughter in 2024.

Taking to Instagram in November, she said: 'Hiya, Just a quick one from me because I know I've got a lot of parents that follow me and I'm starting to feel guilt because I get a lot of DMs saying, "Oh Sian how are you doing it?" The early mornings, red carpet, celebrities and that kind of thing.

'I'm scared that it reflects something that isn't real life because my Instagram looks so glossy and showbiz and yet the truth of it is some days I am absolute rock bottom, cold in a corner wondering how I'm going to survive the next day, wondering how I'm going to go into work and I just don't want to add to any parenting pressure.

'I don't want my timeline to look like something that you should be trying to achieve when I'm not even achieving it I'm literally using my Instagram to show you all my professional work, almost like a CV but I'm not showing you the full picture.'

She added: 'I'm not showing you the, you know 48hours of no sleep and the A&E trips and then the missive work commitments and then choosing, is it work or is it childcare, am I a good mum, I'm a bad mum, what am I doing!

'You know and I'm feeling like this all the time and I'm torn and I am struggling and I'm not getting it right every time and there are some days when I'm hanging by a thread.'

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Welby praised the National Health Service and confirmed she was still in hospital with her daughter, who had been suffering with febrile convulsions

Welby welcomed her baby girl after an emergency C-section and just eight weeks later returned to work hosting This Morning

'But you know I've had a really tough few weeks of parenting and maybe that's not been reflected on here and on the radio then you might think its a breeze but I just wanted to be real with you all and it has been really hard.'

Welby welcomed her baby girl after an emergency C-section and just eight weeks later returned to work hosting This Morning.

Earlier this year, the ITV star told Daily Mail, 'I have always wanted to be on This Morning, it was a big mission of mine.'

She explained: 'In my career, I've had reality stars overtake me, and you lose out on opportunities because they're hot right now, or they weren't looking for someone like me with my accent or whatever the thing was, but I had to wait my turn.

'I told two female producers on the show that I would do anything.

'I said, send me to Bognor Regis beach at 2am or get me dressed up as a Smurf in the middle of Skegness, I will do it. I just really wanted to work on the show. So, I did everything for them.'

She added: 'I did live shows in the middle of Warwick, I was doing competitions and stuff online, a Showbiz segment and a bit like everything in life, I stepped in one day for Lisa Snowdon and it proved to them I could do live TV.

'And eventually the big pinch me moment came when they asked me if I would like to cover with Dermot O'Leary.'
