Shari Redstone’s production outfit Sipur has appointed former Amazon MGM Studios executive Ludovic Attal as president.

Attal, who will work alongside Sipur co-founders Emilio Schenker and Gideon Tadmor, is the latest senior hire since the appointment of Legendary Entertainment’s Deborah Kaufmann as chief of global content in February.

“Bad Boy” producer Sipur has been embarking on a strategic global expansion following the involvement of former Paramount Global head Redstone, who announced she was investing in the Israeli company last fall, joining the board as chair.

Attal’s remit will include growing the studio’s global footprint, deepening strategic partnerships and accelerating premium film and TV projects, from development and finance to production.

“Ludovic is one of those rare executives who combines outstanding creative instincts with a sophisticated understanding of financing, strategy and international partnership-building,” said Schenker, who is CEO of the studio. “From the first time I met him during his MGM years, it was clear to me that he is a brilliant executive and one of the very few people in the industry who truly understands how to leverage financial arbitrage across markets and structure international co-productions in order to build, own and control IP – that are all at the core of Sipur’s business model. As Shari, Gideon, and I continue to grow Sipur on the international stage, I can think of no better person to help lead that next chapter.”

Attal joined MGM as SVP for content strategy, where he managed distribution of hits including “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “Fargo,” before moving into SVP for international co-productions where he was deeply involved in structuring and financing of multi-territory projects including “Last Light,” “The Reunion” and “Billy the Kid.” Following Amazon’s acquisition of the studio, Attal moved into program strategy in the pan-English division, overseeing shows such as “The Girlfriend” and “Steal,” and led brand partnerships across the company’s European originals slate.

As well as MGM, Attal has extensive experience in development and acquisitions having worked at FOX Television Studios, Sony Pictures Television and TF1 Productions, among other leading companies.

“What Emilio, Gideon and Shari and their highly talented team have achieved within a few short years is truly remarkable – acclaimed films, series and documentaries earning raves from critics, prestigious awards bodies and audiences worldwide alike,” said Attal. “Sipur is that rare gem, a display of brilliant entrepreneurial energy, creative ambition and a deep commitment to backing the best filmmakers and storytellers. I’m excited to collaborate with them all as we continue to build on the company’s global reach and its expanding slate of high-end drama, documentary and feature storytelling through strategic partnerships.”

As well as Netflix hit “Bad Boy,” Sipur is known for medical thriller “Heart of a Killer,” “Mírame Así – El Camino de Noa,” starring Noa Kirel and Agustín Bernasconi, and Emmy-winning doc “We Will Dance Again.”
