The couple's fun day out in Venice coincided with Daniel's former love rival Jude Law leaving the festival.

Jude was spotted at Venice's Marco Polo airport as he left the city after attending the premiere of his film The Order, the night before.

It's been 10 years since Jude and Daniel were revealed to have been in a love triangle with the actress Siena Miller.

Sienna admitted in 2014 that she and Daniel enjoyed a 'brief affair' in 2005 having met during the filming of 2004's Layer Cake.

It's assumed this took place after the revelations that Jude had cheated on her in 2004.

The News of the World claimed that the actress was cheating on her then-boyfriend Jude after a reporter listened to the message by hacking in to Daniel's inbox.

The actress told a court during the phone hacking enquiry that she had a 'brief encounter' with her friend and co-star Daniel, but added that she often said 'I love you' at the end of phone conversations with friends or family.

She said: 'The thing that's been slightly misconstrued about this voicemail message is the fact that I said "I love you" and that this was some incredibly important declaration of love. I've always ended my phone calls to Daniel saying "I love you".'

Sienna denied the message meant she was in a relationship with Daniel but she did tell the court they were 'briefly involved'.

'Whether or not I was in a relationship with Daniel Craig, it was not a relationship, it was a very brief encounter, and he was my best friend,' she said.

'Me saying I love you, whether anything romantic happened briefly or not, there was nothing significant.'

Neither Jude nor Daniel commented publicly on the matter.

Jude had been in Venice to promote The Order.

He stars as FBI agent Terry Husk in the thriller, which is set in the Eighties and follows the authorities as they spot a pattern in bank robberies, counterfeiting operations and armored car heists terrorizing communities across the Pacific Northwest.

Daniel is in town to promote his new movie Queer, which will premiere at the festival on September 3.

Directed by Luca Guadagnino, Queer is ased on William Burroughs' semiautobiographical novella and stars Craig as American expat and war veteran William Lee, who has a romance with a younger man, Eugene Allerton (Drew Starkey), a drug addict and discharged Navy serviceman.

Initial reviews suggest mpviegoers will be left shocked by the explicit nature of some of the key moments in the movie.

One much talked about scene, in particular, sees Craig perform oral sex on Allerton.

Venice Film Festival boss Alberto Barbera said he believes Craig has given 'the performance of a lifetime' in Queer, and added he'd be surprised if we don't see the British actor at the Academy Awards next year.

It would mark the first ever Oscar nod for Craig.

The 81st Venice International Film Festival is organised by La Biennale di Venezia and is being held on the Lido di Venezia from August 28 to September 7.
