Super Shadow’s appearance in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 resembles another hedgehog that has yet to be introduced in the movies. Shadow marked the most awaited character addition to Sonic the Hedgehog 3, but there remain many epic allies and villains that could elevate the franchise in great ways. Notably, Sonic the Hedgehog 3’s reviews show an overwhelmingly positive response to the new players, including Gerald Robotnik, and confirm that fans are eager to see more character stories from the video games being adapted.
The black blur’s presence allows for the natural inclusion of characters like Rouge the Bat and E-123 Omega for the completion of Team Dark. However, Sonic the Hedgehog 3’s ending confirms Amy Rose and Metal Sonic will take center focus in the fourth film, playing, respectively, Team Sonic’s new ally and villain. Despite this, with Shadow’s Super State, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 already hinted at what a popular game character could look like, setting him up to join the franchise in the upcoming sequel.
Sonic 3 Teases What Silver The Hedgehog Could Look Like With Super Shadow
Silver Would Be The Last Hedgehog Introduced In The Sonic Franchise
To fight against Super Sonic, Keanu Reeves' character harnesses the power of the Chaos Emeralds and achieves his ultimate form. Shadow shockingly turns white in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, as he accesses his Super State. Besides the glowy aura and minor differences, Shadow’s final transformation makes him look like Silver the Hedgehog. He is, in many ways, very similar to Sonic and Shadow, as he is also a hedgehog, but Silver has yellow eyes, white fur, and five thinner spikes that go up.
Silver’s powers include psychokinesis, which allows him to manipulate objects and the environment with his mind, allowing him to fly and immobilize his opponents.
Notably, Super Silver looks very similar to Shadow and Sonic in their Super States — he is white like Shadow's special form, has yellow elements like Sonic's, and his eyes turn red. Because of this, it becomes pretty easy to imagine how Silver would look if he were to appear in upcoming sequels. Though the third installment’s story doesn’t easily lead to Silver’s original introduction, the fact that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 could be based on several video games opens the way for the franchise to add its last great hedgehog.
Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Could Introduce Silver The Hedgehog Next
Silver’s Ties To Major Villains Suggest His Introduction Should Be Reserved For Sonic 5
Since Knuckles introduces Iblis the fire demon, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 could easily adapt the 2006 Sonic the Hedgehog game — where Silver, a hedgehog from an apocalyptic future, is manipulated by Mephiles to target Sonic by making him think he will trigger Iblis into destroying half the world. Naturally, Silver starts as a villain and then becomes a great asset to Team Sonic. Silver’s powers include psychokinesis, which allows him to manipulate objects and the environment with his mind, allowing him to fly and immobilize his opponents.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3's post-credits scene introduces two new characters, and Sonic the Hedgehog 4 can continue this character introduction trend.
Though Sonic the Hedgehog 3 teases the sequel will adapt Sonic CD instead, Silver might still play a role — especially as he is connected with Eggman Nega, who could be one of the possible villains after Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and responsible for the army of Metal Sonics. However, with Amy Rose and Metal Sonic’s set up, and Shadow’s return, it would be wiser for the creators to delay Silver’s introduction until the fifth installment, as Sonic 4 would otherwise have too many new characters and not enough time to develop them.
