Arguably no other Star Trek character has endured a more tumultuous journey than Seven of Nine, whose struggle to reclaim her humanity after years of assimilation became one of the defining storylines of Star Trek: Voyager. Originally known as Annika Hansen, Seven was assimilated by the Borg as a child, losing her individuality and becoming another drone in the Collective.

Although Captain Janeway and Voyager's crew eventually liberated her, escaping the Borg's control was only the beginning of her journey. Over the years, Seven has repeatedly struggled with her Borg roots, even temporarily reconnecting with the Collective during the events of Star Trek: Picard. Despite eventually becoming a Starfleet captain, her past has never stopped shaping the person she is today, for better or worse.

Now, as Star Trek prepares for another exciting release, Seven's complicated relationship with the Borg is taking a dark turn, with a surprising new appearance that longtime fans won't want to miss.

Seven of Nine is officially going full Borg again, thanks to an exciting new release arriving on November 13. As part of Magic: The Gathering's massive Star Trek crossover, the beloved Voyager character is receiving a new card that revisits her original identity within the Collective. Interestingly, "Seven of Nine, Tertiary Adjunct" will be featured in two separate Commander decks: Federation Fleet and We Are the Borg.

The "Seven of Nine, Tertiary Adjunct" card, illustrated by Bastien L. Deharme, depicts Seven in her Borg form, complete with the mechanical enhancements associated with her time as a drone. She's classified as a Legendary Artifact Creature — Borg, with 1/4 power and toughness and an ability called "That Is Irrelevant." Players can tap Seven to draw a card and then discard one, placing two charge counters on an artifact if the discarded card isn't a land.

Perhaps the most interesting detail, however, is the card's flavor text, which features one of Seven's most memorable lines:

"I speak for the Borg."

Longtime fans will recognize this as Seven's very first spoken line in Star Trek: Voyager, specifically Season 4, Episode 1, "Scorpion, Part II," which originally aired on September 3, 1997. During the episode, Captain Janeway negotiates an uneasy alliance with the Borg to fight Species 8472, demanding a representative that can directly communicate with her crew. Seven emerges as the Collective's spokesperson, introducing herself by her full Borg designation.

Of course, Seven eventually escapes the Collective and begins rediscovering her humanity, making her appearance in both Commander decks fitting. Federation Fleet is led by Jean-Luc Picard, with Captain Janeway serving as its alternative commander. Meanwhile, We Are the Borg is led by the Borg Queen, with Locutus of Borg as another commander option. Seven is effectively playable on both sides of the Federation's longstanding conflict with the Borg, which makes perfect sense given her complicated history.

The larger Magic: The Gathering x Star Trek crossover officially launches on November 13, 2026, celebrating the franchise's 60th anniversary. Alongside Federation Fleet and We Are the Borg, fans can pick up Landing Party, led by Spock, and Klingon Fury, led by Worf.

Each Commander deck includes 100 cards, including 32 new-to-Magic cards, with premium Collector's Editions featuring surge foil treatments throughout. The crossover also includes a larger collection of cards celebrating characters, starships, and memorable moments from across Star Trek's history.

For Seven of Nine fans, the new card offers a nostalgic look back to the character's earliest days in Star Trek, long before she became one of Starfleet's most unlikely captains.
