Semenyo and Marmoush combine to give Manchester City lead vs Atletico Madrid in Seoul friendly

Manchester City’s summer spending is already paying visible dividends. Antoine Semenyo and Omar Marmoush linked up to put City ahead of Atletico Madrid during their pre-season friendly at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on August 9.

The attacking pair, both relatively new additions to Enzo Maresca’s squad, combined twice to breach one of European football’s most notoriously stubborn defenses.

City’s new-look attack on display in Seoul

Maresca’s starting XI included Gianluigi Donnarumma in goal, captain Ruben Dias marshaling the backline, and Phil Foden and Matheus Nunes also featuring in the squad.

Atletico Madrid, managed by Diego Simeone, are famous for making life miserable for opposing forwards. The fact that City’s new duo found ways through that defensive structure, even in a friendly setting, suggests there’s genuine tactical compatibility between them.

The Asia Tour so far

The Seoul fixture was City’s third match on their summer tour of Asia. They drew with Inter Milan in their opener, then secured a win over a K-League All Stars side before facing Atletico.

The match was streamed live on Manchester City’s CITY+ platform, giving the club’s global fanbase a first proper look at how Maresca plans to deploy his forward line when the real action begins.
