Who says Selena Gomez’s mom has a problem with her kids?

Because it certainly wasn’t her. Mandy Teefey ribbed at her daughters for treating her like an uncool mom alongside a photo of Gomez and her 13-year-old sister Gracie Elliot Teefey.

“My greatest accomplishments, love me or not,” Teefey captioned a July 12 Instagram post. “They are the coolest. I one day they will see what a bad ass I am and love me back as much as I love them. I’m just mom. Who never gives up when they throw me in the trash.”

To counteract the tough love, the Wondermind co-founder sprinkled in some words of encouragement, “I tell ya mom you’re doing it wrong, maybe so, we will see. But no matter what I got your back."

Although Teefey was playfully teasing her daughters, some fans took her comments to heart, with one writing, “WTF, Mandy. If you’re having issues with them, you shouldn’t post this on social media.”

Seeing that, the 50-year-old, who shares the Only Murders in the Building star with Rick Gomez and Gracie with husband Brian Teefey, couldn’t keep her thoughts to herself, sending a clear message: Baby, calm down, calm down.

“Girl. It’s [a typical] moms not cool joke,” Teefey clapped back. “Calm down. Lol.”

But the criticism is nothing new for Teefey, who has faced scrutiny for her relationship with the “Calm Down” singer over the years. Even during the 33-year-old’s wedding to Benny Blanco in September 2025, the public had a lot to say about her role in the ceremony.

After fans speculated that Teefey was offended that she wasn’t the one to walk Gomez down the aisle, the mother of two shut down the rumors, expressing gratitude that the pop star’s grandfather had the honor of giving her away.

“This is ludacris!” she responded to one media report at the time. “It was heartwarming him walk her down the aisle!”
