She slipped the news into a new album that mostly documented her filming her hit Hulu show Only Murders in the Building in London.
After a few shots of her escapades in the British capital, including with her co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short, she shared two pictures of her shocking new look.
Gomez, 33, snapped a selfie as she sat on her bed wearing sweats and a crop top, taking the picture at such an angle as to show the hairdo off to full advantage.
The Come and Get It singer also shared a mirror video of herself lounging in bed, the reddish brown locks tumbling luxuriantly over her shoulders.
She declined to clarify whether she had acquired a dye job or a wig for the show, writing simply: 'Wild things happening with @onlymurdershulu while adoring london.'

Her filming schedule has allowed her time to indulge in the city's pleasures, such as the upscale Indian restaurant Gymkhana in Mayfair.
Gomez was glimpsed popping by the eatery last month, weeks after Gymkhana played host to her longtime friend Taylor Swift and her fiancé Travis Kelce.
When Gomez tied the knot with music producer Benny Blanco in Santa Barbara last year, Swift flew in for the occasion and gave a speech.

Blanco made the latest disclosures about her while speaking to Gwyneth Paltrow at a private taping of an upcoming September episode of her Goop podcast.
He characterized Gomez's culinary preferences as 'whatever is bad for your diet,' noting her love of 'burgers and fries' and divulging: 'This morning I walked in and she was eating Jack in the Box at 6:45 in the morning.'
'That is NOT Goop approved!' said his aghast hostess, but Blanco sweetened the pot by explaining that 'the one healthy thing' he can persuade his wife to eat is food from Paltrow's takeout chain Goop Kitchen. 'She will eat the s*** out of Goop.'
Inasmuch as she 'doesn't really like fruits or vegetables,' she will order a Chinese chicken salad and eat 'everything on top of the salad,' leaving Blanco the greens.
