Selena Gomez feels like an 'outsider' in Taylor Swift's friendship squad - as insiders reveal why the two best friends haven't been pictured together in MONTHS

Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift may be longtime friends, but the pair no longer spend time together like they once used to, with insiders partly putting the blame on Gomez's lack of 'desire' to be around the singer's other pals.

Pop superstar Swift, 34, famously boasts a star-studded girl squad that includes the likes of Blake Lively, Lana Del Rey, Sophie Turner, Zoe Kravitz, Ice Spice and Brittany Mahomes - but Gomez, 32, is often noticeably absent when the group get together in public.

Swift has been pictured with celebrity pals on numerous occasions amid the hectic schedule of her ongoing Eras world tour, but her interactions with Selena have been significantly lacking, with the pair last pictured together in January.

Now sources have claimed that Gomez feels like an 'outsider.'

'Selena feels like she has matured out of Taylor’s circle of friends,' an insider exclusively dished to DailyMail.com. 'She has no desire to be out with Blake, or Ice Spice, or Brittany or really any of those girls.'

The source told DailyMail.com that is down to the fact the Only Murders In The Building star, 32, has a lack of 'desire' to be around Swift's other pals

Gomez had hinted she was hurt to miss out on group hangouts back in February, when she left a sad comment on a snap of Swift's box at the Super Bowl.

The photo was posted by a Taylor fan page on Instagram and showed Swift, with pals Lively, Keleigh Sperry, Lana Del Rey, Ice Spice, and others.

In the comments, Gomez posted a sad tearful emoji along with a black heart emoji.

Fans were then surprised to see the Rare Beauty founder failing to make an appearance at Swift's Rhode Island party back in August.

The source continued: 'In a lot of ways, she feels like an outsider now. She is not a cheerleader and never wanted to be.'

DailyMail.com previously reported claims that there has long been some bad blood between Lively, 37, and Gomez, who are reportedly not friends, don't 'mix' and choose to spend time with their popstar BFF separately.

So much so, the pair don't appear to have ever been photographed together despite both being friends with Swift for numerous years.

When DailyMail.com tallied up dozens of occasions, including all of Taylor's birthday bashes, her Fourth of July parties and her New Years Eve celebrations, it was clear that Gomez and Lively have never attended such events together.

Another key factor for the pair's apparent distance over recent months is the fact they are both focusing on their blossoming romantic relationships - picture posted on December 2023

Another key factor for Gomez and Swift's apparent distance over recent months is the fact they are both focusing on their blossoming romantic relationships.

Gomez has been dating fellow musician Benny Blanco since Summer 2023, while Swift started her headline-making romance with Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, 34, around the same time.

The insider noted: 'They are each focused on their careers and their relationships. Ultimately, they are both happy for each other that they are both in love at the same time.'

The fact the pair's boyfriends would likely not have much in common has meant that Gomez and Swift aren't putting in much effort to try and reunite in the form of a double date.

'They know that double dates are out of the questions because their men would literally have nothing at all to talk about,' the insider claimed.

Blanco admitted to SiriusXM that the group had not made the effort to meet up - even though he had bumped into Swift at a restaurant just days before the interview.

For some fans it has been telling that Gomez and Swift themselves have not been publicly seen together since they both attended the 2024 Golden Globes in January.

Prior to that, the pair had attended a comedy night together in December 2023, with Gomez also making a rare appearance for a group dinner with Swift, Mahomes, Sophie Turner, Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevingne weeks before.

However, a second source insisted that the pair have simply just been too busy juggling their successful careers and relationships.

'Life, in a good way, is the reason Taylor and Selena don't hang out often anymore,' they said. 'Taylor is on the biggest tour ever and trying to juggle that with seeing Travis.

'Selena is busy with Only Murders in the Building and her relationship with Benny. There just aren’t enough hours in the day for them to get in a hang.'

The source stressed that the pair's friendship doesn't suffer as a result of the gap in their hangouts as they stated: 'It is one of those friendships where, if they were in the same room, no matter how much time has passed, they would pick up right off where they left off.

'They will likely see each other in the future at awards shows or if they happen to be in the same city and maybe catch a dinner.'

A third source added: 'They talk all of the time but they just haven’t been in the same city at the same time for a while.'

For fans hoping that the pair will find a way to reunite through their work, Gomez admitted that she fears Swift might be too busy to delight viewers with a cameo on Only Murders In The Building - which has just been renewed for a fifth season.

In an interview with E! News, Gomez reacted to the possibility of having her friend join her, Steve Martin and Martin Short on the murder-mystery comedy.

'She’s a little busy, you guys,' she noted before the Pink Panther actor joked that Swift calls them 'every day' to ask for a part on the show.

When the reporter pitched that Swift could do something as simple as just walking past the group on the street, Gomez responded: 'I love that.'
