Julia Stiles sent millennials into a frenzy during this week's episode of Dancing With The Stars as she recreated her iconic Save The Last Dance routine.

25 years after the movie was released, the actress, 45, declared she finally had 'my chance for the do-over that I've always wanted.'

Julia and Ezra Sosa, her pro partner on the US dance competition, performed a hip-hop and jazz-style routine to Jennifer Lopez's Jenny From the Block to mark the show's Super Bowl Night.

The rehearsal footage got fans excited when Ezra set up two chairs and said to camera: 'Sorry, judges, but this is for the Millennials.'

Julia paid homage to the movie's Juilliard dance audition finale, starting her routine in a chair, then mixing in hip hop with ballet moves just like her character Sara Johnson.

There was an extra surprise in store though as at the mid point of the routine Ezra stepped back to allow Julia to have the floor, before the camera cut to a shot of her pro partner standing with Sean Patrick Thomas.

Julia's Save The Last Dance co-star, 55, nodded his approval at her, perfectly mimicking a famous shot in the film.

The actress got emotional as she gushed about the 'full circle' moment after the dance, saying she 'had the best time.'

'Oh my god. I seriously have been wanting a do-over on that movie for 25 years, and I never knew that I would get it on my favorite TV show on the planet!' she told Entertainment Tonight. 'I loved every minute of it.'

The 2001 movie is centered around Julia's character Sara who moves to Chicago to live with her dad after a family tragedy and meets Derek (Thomas) at school.

Struggling to adapt to her new home city, Sara befriends Derek's sister Chenille (Kerry Washington), and as she pursues her dream of going to Juilliard as a ballet dancer, she finds herself falling for Derek.

Fans of the movie were overjoyed to see Julia and Sean reunited, with one gushing on X: 'I love Julia. That was so good. The nod to Save The Last Dance. My millennial heart is bursting. Go girl #dwts.'

'Stop so Julia did the dance from Save the last dance on Dancing with the stars and i am suddenly a teen again. She did it for us millennials yall' another added.

Ezra has revealed that it was DWTS host Alfonso Ribeiro, who was instrumental in orchestrating Sean's surprise cameo.

The routine earned Julia her highest score yet: a 33, as judge Bruno Tonioli told her: 'I love the tribute to your own hit. Your best one so far'

The dancer revealed that Fresh Prince of Bel Air star Alfonso pulled him aside during their dress rehearsal after hearing that Sean would be in the audience to cheer on Julia.

Ezra explained that Alfonso told him: '"I know Sean's going to be here. He has to be included somehow..." We just didn't know how we could pull it off. But luckily, we got production involved. They were down for it, and it was like the cherry on top to this performance.'

The routine earned Julia her highest score yet: a 33, as judge Bruno Tonioli told her: 'I love the tribute to your own hit, of course, but the whole routine - not just the dancing - the interpretation, the construction, the way you play the character. Your best one so far.'

Carrie Ann Inaba added, 'That was so great. So wonderful to see you dancing like that with that confidence and that kind of grit, girl!'

Derek Hough, after enthuastically dancing along to the routine, called Julia over for a hug and said 'she did not disappoint.'

There's another millennial treat in store on next week's Dancing With The Stars as Julia is set to honor her late 10 Things I Hate About You co-star Heath Ledger.

Week 6 is Dedication Night, which will see Julia and her partner perform a contemporary routine to Can't Take My Eyes Off You by Frankie Valli - the song Heath's character Patrick Verona famously sings to Julia in the 1999 movie.

The actress is dedicating her dance to Heath, who died in 2008, at the age of 28.
