A potent rodent for a lot less

The Turtle Beach Burst II Pro is one of the newer kids on the block in the burgeoning category of ultralight gaming mice, and is a veritable treasure trove of features, with a sub 60g mass, a zippy 30,000 DPI sensor and comfortable frame. When this rodent was first released, its only real problem was its price - an issue that has since been addressed with a hefty 45% discount that's brought it down to just £66 on Amazon. A far cry from its £120 RRP.

When James reviewed the Burst II Pro back in January, he was very complimentary of it, praising the comfortable, lightweight and symmetrical frame that's a big hit in this product category in a general sense, and the surprising tactility of the optical switches it features. To delve into things a little more, we've got a total of eight buttons, including one for switching the DPI on the left side. Given its position, I think it can also be configured as a DPI clutch, where you can hold the button to bring the sensitvity down momentarily for when you need precision over power - handy for FPS titles.

Inside, the Burst II Pro comes with a 30,000 DPI Owl-Eye sensor that James found to be precise and accurate, and there's ample sensitivity here for wrist-flicks and sweeping movements galore. With a wireless 8000Hz polling rate, it should also be immensely responsive (and more so than a 'standard' 1000Hz wireless rodent), even if it's hard for most mere mortals to tell the difference. Wireless connectivity is handled by 2.4GHz or Bluetooth, with up to 150 hours of battery life over 2.4GHz and with 1000Hz polling available for weeks of playtime. Up it to 8000Hz, though, and you'll see runtime drop to 40 hours, so the polling rate is worth dropping for non-game desktop cursoring.

If you've been thinking of picking up a potent ultralight gaming rodent, this discounted Turtle Beach Burst II Pro is one we very much like, especially at such a heavily discounted price.
