If you’re on the lookout for a relatively inexpensive processor to build a mainstream gaming PC, the AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D is currently available at an attractive price. Originally launched with an MSRP of $299 as a Micro Center exclusive nearly two years ago, the processor has since made its way to Amazon and is now selling at a discounted price of $246.

The 7600X3D is one of the cheapest 3D V-Cache-equipped CPUs that you can buy that supports AMD’s more recent AM5 platform. It packs six cores, 12 threads, and 96MB of L3 cache that helps maximize gaming performance. With a TDP of 65W, the chip offers base clock speeds of up to 4.1 GHz that can boost up to 4.70 GHz with support for up to 128GB of DDR5-5200 memory, and 24 usable PCIe 5.0 lanes. The CPU can be paired with all AM5 motherboards including A620, X670E, X670, B650E, B650, X870E, X870, B840, and B850. While the chip has a locked multiplier, it does support memory overclocking.

Intel’s newly launched Core Ultra 7 270K Plus, with its $300 price tag, is a solid competitor, but as per our testing, the 7600X3D offers marginally better performance. In our 17-game performance geomean, the AMD chip is about 4% faster in 1080p gaming. Additionally, AMD has committed to long-term support for its AM5 platform through 2027 and beyond, unlike Intel’s LGA 1851. This means it leaves room for future upgrades, especially if you plan to upgrade your CPU down the line without changing the entire platform.

As you can see in testing it even gives the 7800X3D a run for its money, a chip that costs $384 on Amazon right now.

With the current price drop to $246 and wider availability on Amazon, the Ryzen 5 7600X3D is undoubtedly the best value-driven gaming CPU in its class. For gamers looking to build a capable system without overspending, this deal makes the 7600X3D an easy recommendation right now.
