Samsung's New Galaxy Tab S10 FE and FE Plus Tablets Get a Couple of Key Upgrades

1 day ago 3

Every year, Samsung releases "Fan Edition" versions of its flagship Galaxy Tab S series tablets that aren't quite as powerful and have less-advanced display technology -- but they do cost a lot less. Once again that's true for the new Galaxy Tab S10 FE and Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus, which are set to be available on April 10 in gray, silver and blue and will start at $500 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. That price represents a $50 bump from last year's Galaxy Tab S9 FE, but if you reserve the tablet before April 10, Samsung is offering a $50 discount.

Upgraded processor and camera

Both new tablets run on an upgraded Samsung Exynos 1580 chipset instead of the more powerful MediaTek processors found in their standard counterparts (the Exynos 138 chipset powers the Galaxy Tab S9 FE tablets). While the Galaxy Tab S10 FE retains the same 10.9-inch display of its predecessor, the larger Tab S10 FE Plus ($650) is equipped with a 13.1-inch display, which is larger than the 12.4-inch screen found in its predecessor and the standard Tab S10 Plus. Samsung released the Galaxy Tab S10 only in Plus and Ultra versions -- the Ultra has a giant 14.6-inch display -- so the Tab S10 FE is technically the smallest S10.

Both new FE models use LCD, not OLED, panels and have 90Hz refresh rates compared with the 120Hz refresh rates of the standard Tab S10's screens. Samsung says the Tab S10 FE is 4% lighter than its predecessor, and both tablets are equipped with a newly upgraded 13-megapixel high-resolution rear camera, though the Tab S10 FE Plus no longer has a second ultrawide camera.

Samsung

Samsung is touting the Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus and Galaxy Tab S10 FE as the "first models in the FE series to come equipped with cutting-edge AI capabilities right out of the box." So, from a features standpoint, you're getting a lot of what the standard Galaxy Tab S10 models offer. However, while an S Pen stylus is included with the new FE tablets, it's the more basic version that's missing Bluetooth features. That was also the case for the S Pen that was included with the Tab S9 FE (and the new Galaxy S25 Ultra smartphone, which some people weren't happy about).

As soon as I get a review sample, I'll give you my hands-on impressions of the Galaxy Tab S10 FE and tell you how it compares to the standard Tab S10. As usual, Samsung tends to offer decent discounts if you trade in a device, so look for some savings if you already own a Samsung tablet. Note that both tablets also come in versions with Wi-Fi plus 5G, for an added cost.
