Nearly 20 years later, Sam Raimi is open to taking another swing at Spider-Man with a fourth installment of his Marvel movies.

Following Tobey Maguire’s return as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), Raimi said the audience “loved him,” as well as returning villains Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) and Otto Octavius (Alfred Molina).

“So, I think the kids would like to see him,” he told the Associated Press. “Right now, Marvel is very successful on their own tangent with their own Spider-Man, where he is involved with The Avengers and the other superheroes.”

Raimi continued, “So, I don’t think it makes sense right now to break up that great, successful run they’re having, just to allow me to make another Spider-Man movie. But I’d love to. The day might come, and I’d love to do it.”

After Raimi directed him in Spider-Man (2002), Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Spider-Man 3 (2007), Maguire reprised his role as the titular web-slinger in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).

Raimi last returned to the MCU to direct Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), working with Rachel McAdams. The pair reunites on their current film Send Help, now available in theaters.
