Salt Lake City Reality Stars Whitney Rose and Whitney Leavitt to Host Dueling Screenings of Mormon-Themed ‘Heretic’ (EXCLUSIVE)

As part of its ongoing promotions to launch “Heretic,” A24 has enlisted reality stars Whitney Rose (“The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City”) and Whitney Leavitt (“The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives”) to host dueling screenings in Salt Lake City. The screening will take place on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Cinemark Century Salt Lake 16 and XD. Attendees will be given a choice between two theaters, which reflects the one in the film offered by Mr. Reed (Hugh Grant) to the Mormon missionaries (Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East) who are unlucky enough to arrive at his doorstep. (See terrifying trailer here.)

According to A24’s announcement, “In the film, Hugh Grant’s character suggests ‘It’s a simple choice, but it should not be made simply’ – in that spirit, upon arriving, fans will be challenged to test their faith by choosing between two theaters—and two Whitneys.”

Whitney Rose is a breakout star of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,” currently in its fifth season on Bravo. Born into an elite Mormon family, Rose has been vocal on the show about her issues with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and officially resigned her membership — even sending a notarized letter! — on camera during the show’s third season.

Whitney Leavitt, however, of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” remains devout, after making herself somewhat infamous during the show’s first season, which premiered on Hulu in September. Leavitt literally removed herself from the cast of Utahn #MomTok-ers, when she left the women’s group chat late in the season. After having been painted as the show’s villain, though, Leavitt appears — if social media is any indicator — to have reconciled with at least a few of her castmates. (Those reconciliations are just in time for Season 2 of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” which began filming earlier this month.) And speaking of devotion, Leavitt gave birth to her third child on Oct. 24, according to People, yet will be at this screening nine days later.

The dueling Whitneys screening is A24’s latest stunt in service of “Heretic” — from co-directors Scott Beck and Bryan Woods — which opens in theaters on Nov. 8. In addition to this event, A24 has announced the movie will have smell-o-vision screenings with a blueberry scent, and posted missing persons ads at the Salt Lake City Airport.
