  • The Sage Oracle Dual Boiler is a new premium home espresso machine
  • It has a choice of automatic and manual modes, and a menu of 15 drinks
  • It's on sale now for £2,499.95 direct from Sage

Sage, the company behind many of the best coffee makers I've tested here at TechRadar, has launched a new espresso machine with two boilers, allowing you to pull a shot of espresso and steam milk at the same time, with no waiting around.

The Sage Oracle Dual Boiler also lets you choose between automatic and manual modes, so you can take control over the whole brewing process to get exactly the flavour profile you want, or let the machine do the work if you just want a good-tasting coffee with minimal effort.

Want the Oracle Dual Boiler to handle things for you? Just use the color touchscreen to choose from a menu of 15 preset drinks, then follow the simple on-screen instructions to grind and brew your coffee, and steam the milk to perfection (if required).

Like the Sage Barista Impress with Cold Extraction which I tested recently, the Oracle Dual Boiler's menu includes hot and cold options., from classics like a double espresso or cappuccino through to an espresso martini or shakerato (a shaken iced coffee drink with simple syrup). There are 15 drinks to choose from, which is more than any other Sage machine has offered to date.

I'm particularly looking forward to testing the Oracle Dual Boiler, not least because unlike most home espresso machines it has a heated groupset to help maintain a consistent temperature throughout the whole brewing process.

The Oracle Dual Boiler will also monitor how long it takes to pour each shot, and suggest changes to the grind size until you get a perfectly extracted espresso. This process, known as 'dialling in' the grinder, is one of the most time-consuming parts of making coffee, and having the machine do the work of calculating the right setting is very helpful..

Sage hasn't skimped on the accessories, either. There's a professional-grade 58mm stainless steel portafilter, and even a matching knock-box for your grounds (something I wish came with all the best espresso machines).

Of course, all of this comes at a price, and the Sage Oracle Dual Boiler is one of the priciest home espresso machines on the market at £2,499.95. It's available direct from Sage, and from a selection of third-party retailers.

(If the name sounds familiar, the Oracle Dual Boiler is already on sale in Australia under the brand name Breville, but this is its UK debut.)
