‘Duck Dynasty’s Sadie Robertson Details Last Moments With Grandfather Phil Robertson

Sadie Robertson is feeling grateful following a terrifying ordeal.

The Duck Dynasty star recalled the moment her and husband Christian Huff’s 8-month old daughter Kit began choking while having a snack in her high chair, prompting her to go into full fight mode.

“Within seconds, you could tell the severity of the situation,” Sadie wrote alongside a video of her daughter sleeping on Instagram April 12. “My mom pulled her from the high chair and placed my girl into my arms just as she stopped breathing.”

“Everyone went into action and into prayer,” the 28-year-old continued. “Mom called 911, I started CPR, and everyone began to pray out loud and move the other kids downstairs.”

Sadie—who is also mom to daughters Honey, 4, and Haven, 2—shared that as someone who “likes to be prepared for all situations,” she had previously watched several videos about the steps to take if a baby starts choking and stops breathing.

“I can only explain it now like my body just knew what to do,” Sadie explained. “I felt God’s Spirit guiding me, partnering with me in what I had learned and seen. I remember saying out loud, ‘what do I do?’ and then immediately started doing it and declaring life.”

Thankfully, Kit “miraculously coughed and began to breathe” as the paramedics arrived, though she was taken to the hospital where she stayed overnight for observation.

For Sadie—daughter to Korie Robertson and Willie Robertsonit was important to share the harrowing experience with her followers “as an encouragement for everyone to learn what to do in the case of an emergency.”

“It happened SO fast,” she added, “and I’m so thankful I was able to go straight into action!”

After posting about her story, Sadie also felt incredibly thankful for the love and support she and her family received from her followers, noting that the ordeal happened “within the first hour” of their family vacation.

“The rest of the week we got to be together and just soak in gratitude and rest in the miracle!” she wrote in an April 13 Instagram post. “And also, of course, work through a lot of anxiety and tears. Just gotta keep it real, because of course that’s unseen in pictures.”

And the reality star wanted to share more from the ordeal because she’s eager to help anyone “taking care of babies.”

“Again, just so grateful,” she noted, “and I always want to use my platform to be authentic and helpful to others! So much love for everyone.”

Phil Robertson and Miss Kay Robertson

Family patriarch Phil Robertson and wife Miss Kay (née Marsha Kay Carroway) were married for 59 years before his death in May 2025 at the age of 79.

The Duck Commander founder and Kay had four sons together—Alan Robertson,  Jason "Jase" Robertson, Willie Robertson and Jep Robertson—while Phil also had a daughter, Phyllis, from a 1970s-era extramarital affair.

The family shared in December 2024 that Phil was in the "early stages" of Alzheimer's disease. And he was very much in the hearts of his huge family as filming got underway on Duck Dynasty: The Revival, which premiered in June 2025.

Phil's diagnosis has "been a struggle for all of us," Willie's wife Korie Robertson said in a show confessional. And "he wouldn't want to admit it, but I definitely think it's affected Willie, and I think it's made him think really hard about his own legacy."

Jase married Missy Robertson in 1990.

The couple share sons Reed Robertson and Cole Robertson, as well as daughter Mia Robertson.

And while Duck Commander COO Jase invented some of the brand's signature calls, he's not known as the family psychic.

"I was one of the ones who said the reality show would never work," he told Fox News after Duck Dynasty blew up in popularity. "We've got some crazy characters in our family—but I didn't think people would want to see that."

Reed shares daughters Merris and Frances, as well as son David with wife Brighton Robertson, while Cole married Emily Hamn in 2025.

Willie Robertson and Korie Robertson

Willie has been CEO of Duck Commander since 2002 but announced in June 2025 that he was "fully semi-retiring."

He married fellow Harding University alum Korie Howard in 1992 and they share six children: Rebecca Robertson (born in Portland, Ore., and raised in Taiwan, she was 16 when she moved in with the family as an exchange student in 2004 and was embraced as one of their kids), John Luke Robertson, Sadie Robertson, Bella Robertson, Will Robertson Jr. (adopted in 2001 when he was 5 weeks old), and Rowdy Robertson (who was 13 when he was adopted in 2016).

As of the March 7, 2026, season two premiere of Duck Dynasty: The Revival, the couple are grandparents of 11: Luke and wife Mary Kate Robertson are parents of five, Sadie and husband Christian Huff have three daughters, and Rebecca is mom to sons Zane and Xander and daughter Holland with husband John Reed

Will tied the knot with Abby Kay Robertson in 2023.

Sadie and Christian, the founder of faith-rooted fitness company 4:8 Men, tied the knot in 2019 at the Robertson family's Louisiana homestead.

“When somebody makes you better and they’re your best friend in the world, you don’t want to spend a day without them," the That's Good podcast host told People at the time. "So we’re excited to not have to spend the day without each other."

The couple welcomed daughters Honey James Huff in May 2021, Haven Belle Huff in May 2023 and Kit Carroway Huff in August 2025.

Jep Robertson and Jessica Robertson

Youngest Robertson brother Jep has been married to Jessica since 2001.

They share three daughters—Lily, Merritt and Priscilla—as well as sons River and Gus.

And it feels as if this branch of the family tree is growing at the fastest rate: Lily and husband Austin Staulbaum welcomed son Winston Ezelle Stalbaum in February 2025, Priscilla and boyfriend Dillon Nash welcomed daughter August Mae Nash on Oct. 6, 2025, and Merritt and husband Tyler Metro became parents in December with the birth of daughter Nellie Jane Metro.

Phil's scene-stealing younger brother Silas Robertson, better known as Uncle Si to Duck Dynasty fans, has been married to Christine Robertson since 1971.

The Army vet and his bride share daughter Trasa and son Scott.

Trasa and husband Kyle Coburn have four sons. Scott also shares four kids with wife Marsha Robertson, a musician and member of her father-in-law's band Uncle Si & the Sicotics.

Phyllis Thomas

Phil found out late in life that he had a grown daughter from an extramarital affair he had in the 1970s.

The family patriarch broke the news alongside sons Al, Jase, Willie and Jep on their Unashamed podcast in March 2020.

Al explained that he got a letter from Phyllis Thomas saying she had reason to believe they were brother and sister. After giving it a think, Al finally approached his parents and Phil agreed to take a DNA test.

Phyllis was subsequently welcomed into the fold.

"Whenever Phyllis came into the family and we found out," Korie told E! News in 2023, "Kay, from day one, just welcomed her with opened arms. She became part of the family very early on."
