Sabrina Carpenter Says Chappell Roan "Whipped" Photogs Into Shape

1 week ago 19

Sabrina Carpenter attributed what she felt was a quieter than usual step-and-repeat at the 2026 Grammys to Chappell Roan being honest about feeling disrespected by photographers on past red carpets.

Sabrina Carpenter Declares Grammys Red Carpet "Quiet" After Chappell Roan Calls Out Photographers

Chappell Roan didn't have to stop the world to change the feeling at the 2026 Grammys. She just had to air her thoughts on photographers who cross the line.

And Sabrina Carpenter gave a shout-out Feb. 1 outside Los Angeles' Crypto.com Arena to what she attributed to the Chappell effect.

"You guys are so quiet this year," the "Manchild" singer told photographers who were snapping away as the Valentino-clad artist made her way down the red carpet Feb. 1 outside Los Angeles' Crypto.com Arena. "Chappell really started a movement."

Sabrina added with a smile, "She really whipped them into shape."

Not that the shutterbugs were silent, telling the two-time Grammy winner—who's a six-time nominee tonight, including for Album of the Year—where to look and turn, etc., so they could catch her stunning ruffled and beaded dress from every angle. (See all the red carpet fashion at the 2026 Grammys.)

"Oh, just get me as I walk," Sabrina replied with a smile.

Chappell, meanwhile, admitted to Live From E!: Grammys 2026's Zuri Hall that walking the red carpet was always the "hardest" part of the whole night for her at these sorts of events.

"I'm not performing this year," she added, "so this is a piece of cake."

Chappell could leave with a couple of Grammys, however, including at Sabrina's expense. They're squaring off in the Record of the Year category, Chappell for "The Subway" and Sabrina for "Manchild," as well as for Best Pop Solo Performance.

But the 27-year-old, who won Best New Artist at last year's Grammys, explained to Zuri that the red carpet portion of the evening was "overstimulating."

"And," she continued, "people are just filming you and you don't know what they're doing with it, so, it's kind of crazy!"

Asked what she hoped people meant when they say "Chappell's got a way," the singer replied, "That I do it my own way. Which is kind of my whole vibe. I like breaking the mold, so I would think that. Hopefully that!"

In October 2024, Chappell called out a photographer on the red carpet at the premiere of Netflix's concert film Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour, telling them they were "so disrespectful" to her at the Grammys earlier that year.

"You yelled at me at the Grammy party. Yes, I remember," she said, as seen in a widely circulated video on social media. "You were so rude to me. And I deserve an apology for that. You need to apologize to me."

Her red carpet experience at the 2026 Grammys appeared to be much short n' sweeter. And even if it was "quiet" out there, see all the fashion that spoke volumes:
