Sabrina Carpenter's Short N Sweet album beats Travis Scott to number one on charts by only 600 copies

Sabrina Carpenter beat out Travis Scott to top the charts in a victory by just a short margin but it certainly was sweet.

The 25-year-old singer - whose megahit Espresso recently reached 1 billion streams on Spotify - barely edged out the 33-year-old rapper for the top of the Billboard 200 album charts by just 600 units.

Sabrina's sixth album Short N Sweet was declared the victor over Travis's retro release Days Before Rodeo when the nail-biting results were revealed on Tuesday.

The Taste hitmaker had previously promised a victory on the charts to avenge Nicki Minaj against Travis as in 2018 the Houston born rapper's Astroworld came out on top over the 41-year-old Trinidadian-born rapper's Queen.

Last week Sabrina reposted some chart data on X with the caption: 'this one's for nicki'

Sabrina's album is already jam-packed with hit singles including aforementioned megahit Espresso and new track Taste.

Travis, on the other hand, rereleased a mixtape that was previously released independently on his SoundCloud account on August 18, 2014 as it impressively became the biggest Hip Hop album to debut this year.

Meanwhile, Sabrina was recently in a celebratory mood as she reacted to her smash hit, Espresso, reaching a billion streams on Spotify.

The hitmaker shared a story last week announcing that the single had reached the 'billions club' to her Instagram on Wednesday.

'Holy s**t!!! Thank you for streaming,' the star — whose fans slammed her 2025 tour ticket prices as 'scandalous and appalling' — wrote, adding a heart emoji.

The catchy pop song was released in April 2024 as the lead single from her upcoming album Short n' Sweet.

The song, and its music video, directed by Dave Meyers, quickly gained global popularity, with the chart-topper reaching number one on the Billboard Global 200, making it her first number-one single.

In the United States, Espresso peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100.

Espresso is an anthem about feeling confident and irresistible, with the star comparing herself to coffee and suggesting that she's so stimulating she keeps people up at night thinking about her.

'Now he's thinkin' bout me Every night, oh/ Is it that sweet? I guess so/ Say you can't sleep, baby, I know/ That's that me espresso,' Sabrina sings.

The energetic music video features her and a male lead star in captivating scenes set against a beach backdrop.

Espresso was written by Sabrina, along with Amy Allen, Steph Jones, and Julian Bunetta.

She also has another chart-topper under her belt - Please Please Please, which became her first number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100.

The song is her second single from her upcoming sixth album, Short n' Sweet.

The record is set to be released on August 23.

Her previous five studio albums are: Eyes Wide Open (2015), Evolution (2016), Singular: Act I (2018), Singular: Act II (2019), and Emails I Can't Send (2022).

Her new music milestone comes after the star opened up about her high-profile relationship with actor Barry Keoghan, 31, in an interview with Variety published Tuesday.

The singer–songwriter cleared up speculation from fans who suggested that her upcoming album might feature lyrics inspired by the Saltburn actor.

She also shared about what it was like for the Oscar nominee to take a starring role in her Please Please Please music video.

The star may have disappointed some fans hoping for a bigger peek into her relationship when she admitted that she tries to steer clear of topical material for her lyrics.

'It feels easier to write about things that happened in the past, or that haven’t happened yet,' she said.

Although she can get more clarity with enough distance, the delayed songwriting process seems to have caused some concerns in the studio.

'My producers tell me I’m beating a dead horse because I’ll write a song three years after I last spoke to the person who inspired the lyric,' Sabrina admitted.

Despite her claims to focus on things in the rearview mirror, Sabrina notably had her actor boyfriend star in her music video for Please Please Please, which includes lyrics about a boyfriend who is an actor.

According to her, Barry was totally on board for the music video shoot, as he was already a fan of the tune.

'He loved the song. He’s obsessed with the lyrics, and I’m so grateful for that,' Sabrina gushed.

She also took a moment to sing Barry's praises in the wake of multiple acclaimed films, including The Banshees Of Inisherin, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

Sabrina made a rare statement about her relationship with actor Barry Keoghan, 31, in an interview with Variety on Tuesday; they're seen May 6 at the Met Gala in Manhattan

'I don’t want to sound biased, but I think he’s one of the best actors of this generation,' the songstress said. 'So getting to see him on the screen with my song as the soundtrack made the video better and all the more special.'

Earlier this summer, Sabrina and Barry took their relationship to the next level with their red carpet debut at the Met Gala on May 6.

The lovebirds first met each other at the Givenchy runway presentation in September for Paris Fashion Week.

However, the two weren't linked until late last year, when they were seen out on a date in Los Angeles' tony Brentwood neighborhood in early December.

Prior to his romance with Sabrina, Barry was in a two-year relationship with the dental nurse Alyson Kierans, with whom he shares his son Brando, who was born in August 2022, while Barry was filming Saltburn.
