Ryan Gosling is a huge fan of Deidre Hall's, and now the A-list actor has proven he's as good as his word by accepting the Days of Our Lives star's invitation to visit her on set.
The Project Hail Mary actor, 45, shared a video on his wife Eva Mendes' Instagram – he doesn't have an official account himself – in which he praised Hall for being his acting inspiration.
'Deidre Hall, are you kidding me? Yes! It's a very enthusiastic yes to a very cordial invitation to visit you on set,' Gosling began, looking handsomely blond and bearded behind his cool sunglasses.
'I will be there to thank you in person for being my OG acting inspiration,' he said. 'It wasn't Marlon Brando in On the Waterfront, it wasn't De Niro in Taxi Driver, it was you. And I want to thank you for your offer. Anytime, anywhere, you tell me I'll be there.'
Hungry fans also got a glimpse of the casual ensemble worn by the star - who recently revealed how his daughters with Mendes influenced his work on Project Hail Mary - that included a blue baseball cap and a gray Harley-Davidson sweatshirt.
Birds could be heard tweeting from the trees as he continued his message by thanking Joshua Horowitz, who inadvertently sparked the friendly exchange between Gosling and Hall by discussing daytime dramas with the actor on his Happy Sad Confused podcast last week.

Hall's invitation to Gosling came after he praised her during a conversation on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with host Joshua Horowitz
'And I also want to thank Josh Horowitz for making this happen in some way. He's kind of a magical guy even though he obviously doesn’t know what he doesn't know but he knows now. At least he’s gonna know,' Gosling quipped.
The movie heartthrob concluded with a tongue-in-cheek reference to the supernatural trials Hall's character Marlena went through on Days of Our Lives not once, but twice.
A 1995 storyline had Marlena hypnotized and drugged by Stefano DiMera (played by Joseph Mascolo) and under Satan's possession. Marlena was possessed by the Devil again in 2021.
'I’m not worried about the possession. I'll say a Hail Mary before I get there,' Gosling added, with a not-too-subtle plug for his new hit movie, which debuted with an impressive $140.0 million worldwide during its opening weekend. 'I'll be fine. And see you on the set.'
The clip was Gosling's answer to Hall's gushing video in response to his praise on Horowitz's podcast.
'Soap opera actors in general - they do not get the love they deserve,' Gosling told the host. '[They have to] memorize, the night before, like 10 pages of dialogue. They get one take, and it's impossible scenarios - like Marlena, Deidre Hall, gets possessed.'
The famous storyline happened in the 1990s when The X-Files popularized supernatural, sci-fi and horror narratives on television.
'She was possessed by the Devil,' Gosling recalled. 'I loved it. What's amazing is I remember thinking like, "God, Deidre Hall's a great actress 'cause she's having to act possessed right now. This seems like a lot to ask of her."'
'I will be there to thank you in person for being my OG acting inspiration. It wasn't Marlon Brando in On the Waterfront, it wasn't De Niro in Taxi Driver, it was you,' Gosling told Hall
Gosling was especially appreciative of the Days of Our Lives storyline that saw Hall's Dr Marlena Evans possessed by Satan
The soap opera star teasingly assured Gosling, 'Nobody will be possessed. And if they are, I'll keep an eye on you'
Hall's character was famously possessed by the Devil in 1995 and again in 2021
The Notebook star went through a spell where he didn't watch the show, explaining, 'I think I just had to live my life.'
Years later he caught an episode that was strangely reminiscent. 'It was on TV, and she's possessed again! Somehow my life keeps crossing the path with when Deidre Hall is possessed,' he said.
Hall, 78, then posted her video to Instagram. 'Oh my gosh, what fun!' she extolled, adding that the podcast clip circulated around the Days of Our Lives set.
'We played it in the dressing room, and we played it in the makeup room, and we're just thrilled to be acknowledged and to be so well spoken of. Because we work really hard, as you acknowledged,' Hall said.
Then she welcomed Gosling to come to the set, hinting that he could shoot a scene with her.
'We think it would be nice if you wanted to come over and see what we do in our neck of the woods,' Hall said. 'So this is an open invitation to visit the Days of Our Lives set.'
She added, 'Nobody will be possessed. And if they are, I'll keep an eye on you.'
Hall has played Dr Marlena Evans on Days of Our Lives for 50 years, joining the soap opera in 1976.
Gosling's longtime partner Mendes commented, 'This collab just hits different!'
Meanwhile, Gosling recently insisted it is Hollywood's ‘job’ to keep cinemas afloat, arguing that it is up to moviemakers themselves to ensure they are creating content that people want to see on the big screen.
‘Six years ago, I got the manuscript. [It’s] the most ambitious thing I’ll ever make; it seemed impossible. It was too good not to give it a shot. Six years later, we did it,’ he said of Project Hail Mary, per Variety.
‘Here we are, we’re all back in theaters. It’s not your job to keep them open, it’s our job to make things that make it worth you coming out.
‘You’re about to go to another galaxy, make an alien best friend and save the stars. This movie is for you. Enjoy the trip!’
