RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under star Karna Ford revealed on Thursday what fierce new host Michelle Visage is really like behind the scenes.

The American TV personality, 56, is known for her feisty, take-no-bull attitude on the popular reality competition franchise, which is usually hosted by RuPaul Charles.

But eliminated queen Karna, 28, told Daily Mail Australia that Michelle has softened since taking over the role of host on the Australian version of the show.

'I feel like her as a host was definitely much more motherly, much more maternal and much more nurturing,' Karna said.

'There was none of that sassy fierceness that she would have usually done if she was hosting with RuPaul. Which was good. I felt the love.'

Karna went on to say she was blown away by Michelle's flawless beauty when the pair first met on the series.

'Michelle is probably one of the most gorgeous people in the world,' the drag performer said.

'She was polished from head to toe. Just staring at her, it looked like she was an Instagram filter in person.'

Karna is a Filipino Australian drag queen from Sydney who is known for her high energy performance style and sassy attitude.

But the dancing diva faced heartbreak on Friday night when she was eliminated in the third episode following a lacklustre Snatch Game performance.

It came as a disappointment to Karna after she went through the gruelling audition process for season three and season four of the show.

'It was like a 25 minute video that had challenges. Such as an acting challenge, a Snatch Game, and showing off your wardrobe that you have,' she said.

'And then it's just interviews of all these questions. After you send off your audition tape, you make it to the preliminary rounds.

'From there you go through another interview stage. I think from that moment, they decide who they want to be cast on the show.

'The audition tape was such a hard process because it's so long and there's so much to do.

'If you did it multiple times in a row, you can't show any of the same stuff. You have to do a completely new wardrobe and a completely new Snatch Game.'

Karna was sent home after she failed to impress judges Michelle and Rhys Nicholson, as well as guest judge My Delirium hitmaker Ladyhawke, with her Snatch Game.

The drag performer entered the comedy challenge as a 'drag version' of Eddie Murphy, leaning on lines from the actor's character Rasputia Latimore in Norbit.

After losing her confidence in the maxi challenge, where she said she felt 'intimidated' by the other queens, Karna slayed the Queen of Desserts runway.

Unfortunately, Karna failed to shine in the third episode and found herself lip syncing against Max Drag Queen and Nikita Iman before being asked to sashay away.

All seasons of RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under can be streamed on Stan.
