Rumours of an unannounced Elder Scrolls game are bogus, sadly

Rumours of an unannounced Elder Scrolls game being in development at Bethesda have been debunked, after a LinkedIn page was misinterpreted by enthusiasts.

The bio, belonging to former associate game designer Griffin DeClaire - one of many developers impacted in recent sweeping Microsoft layoffs - said they had been working on an "unreleased Elder Scrolls title". But Griffin not clarifying this meant The Elder Scrolls 6 has resulted in some people inferring that another Elder Scrolls game was in development.

FRVR contacted Griffin who confirmed he had worked solely on The Elder Scrolls 6, with him telling the outlet: "To clarify, the posting is about TESVI. I was working directly on TESVI everyday in-engine before being laid off. Quite tragic, I really loved the work and was looking forward to seeing the fan reaction."

We don't actually know too much about The Elder Scrolls 6, despite it having been announced eight years ago. We know developers at Bethesda "love how it looks" and "are playing it every day", which one imagines is true of many games in development.

But that's not the only game Bethesda Game Studios has in development. Fallout 5 is in pre-production, with development on Fallout 76 ongoing, and there are Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas remasters being developed in partnership with Bethesda, too.
