Ruby Rose reveals she was accused of MURDER at age 15 after being present at the death of four-year-old boy: 'People were calling me a baby killer'

Ruby Rose has recalled how she was suspected of murder after finding herself at the scene of a horrific childhood accident. 

Speaking on the Off the Vine podcast with Kaitlyn Bristowe on Tuesday, the Australian actress said she had a 'crazy story' to tell, where she was 'accused of murder at age 15'. 

Rose explained that she was at a social gathering with her mother and family friends at a home when she discovered a four-year-old boy gravely injured in the backyard. 

Then aged 15, Rose had stepped outside with a friend to smoke her first ever cigarette when she noticed what she thought was a doll hanging off a playground slide.

'My friend and I locked eyes and we started walking towards it. As we got close enough, we could tell this was a real human,' the 40-year-old said. 

'There was blood coming out of his ear, nose, mouth. It was very traumatic.'

Rose said she ran to the child, picked him up and carried him inside, seeking help from the adults in the house.

The Orange Is the New Black star initially thought she had saved the child's life as he was still breathing when an ambulance arrived. 

But, after being taken to hospital and placed on life support, the boy did not survive. 

'Unfortunately he was brain dead for so long that it just wasn't...' she continued, trailing off.

'I got a call saying that he probably wouldn't be okay, that they were keeping him on a machine and it didn't look great. I just sent love to the family,' Rose added. 

The following day, police showed up at Rose's high school to question her over the death, leading to bullying and accusations of murder. 

'People were like, "baby killer!" I was breaking down,' she said.

Rose explained that the child's older brother, who had witnessed the death, had suffered 'dissociative amnesia' but eventually recovered his memories, and was able to tell police the death had been a tragic accident.

'He went back to the police and thank goodness told them, because they didn't think it was me anyway, but that doesn't always happen,' she said. 

The Dark Matter actress said that police cleared her, but the impact of the initial suspicion continued to affect her because she was seen as a 'weird kid'. 

'He remembered and I was cleared, but (the child's mother) still didn't want me at the funeral. So everyone went except me,' she said. 

In the wide-ranging interview, which is her first ever appearance on a podcast, Rose also touched on her difficult relationship with her late father and her exit from Hollywood after suffering a spinal injury on the set of the CW series, Batwoman.

She starred as the title character in The CW series from 2019 to 2020.

Ruby skyrocketed to international fame in Netflix's Orange Is the New Black before starring in films including John Wick: Chapter 2 and The Meg.

That success led to roles in major studio films including Resident Evil: The Final Chapter and XXX: Return of Xander Cage.

She has since embraced a quieter life, returning to Australia, where she lives in a cabin in rural Victoria.
