Ronan Keating reveals he is performing at high-profile Australian event amid rumours about which other global pop stars will take to the stage

Ronan Keating has confirmed the exciting news that he will be jetting Down Under to perform at the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

The Irish singer, 47, will be paying an exclusive visit to Flemington Racecourse to perform as part of the Crown Oaks Day festivities on November 7.

He will also put on a smaller performance for lucky guests at the VRC Crown Oaks Club Lunch on November 6 before his main set the following day.

It will be the Boyzone star's only performances in Australia this year as he will jet Down Under after wrapping up his European tour later this month.

'I have loved visiting Flemington in the past and can't wait to perform in The Park for the first time,' he shared.

Ronan and his Australian-born wife Storm have attended the prestigious event twice before, once for Lexus Melbourne Cup Day in 2009 and for Penfolds Victoria Derby Day in 2012.

The 90s superstar teased his two upcoming Australian shows in an Instagram caption as he marked the end of his European tour this weekend.

'Easily the best summer of shows I have ever done across Europe. Thank you everyone that has bought a ticket,' he penned.

'Playing to full houses with my band,same team for 25 years incredible musicians and crew. I don't want the shows to end. 

'Two to go and then onwards to Australia. Love you all see ya soon somewhere.'

Australian singer Ricki-Lee Coulter will also be taking to the stage in The Park on Crown Oaks Day.

With more of the entertainment line-up to be revealed, there have been rumours swirling that other globally famous stars could be making an appearance. 

Coldplay will also be in Australia over the same dates in November for their Music Of The Spheres world tour, leading to speculation they could make an appearance.

Take That will also be in town during Carnival Cup week, as will Murder On The Dancefloor hitmaker Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Ronan rose to fame alongside Shane Lynch, Keith Duffy, Michael 'Mikey' Graham and Stephen Gately in 90s boyband Boyzone, formed by pop manager Louis Walsh.

The group achieved international fame as well as six UK No.1s - including Words, No Matter What, All That Matters To Me and You Needed Me.

The band officially split in 2000, but often get back together for landmark tours - including the Back Again... No Matter What tour in 2009 - which was the last time they performed as a five-piece before Stephen's death.

The band also reunited in 2013 to celebrate their 20th anniversary with a tour and new releases.

In 2018, Boyzone confirmed their plans to split for good after releasing one final album dedicated to their late bandmate Stephen. 

Stephen tragically died suddenly in 2009 of a congenital heart defect aged 33.
